Welcome to the Kappa Auction Draft's Round of 16 Match 1 between Oxitron and chemical. The rules for voting are simple - if you issue a vote, you must leave a sentence or two justifying your decision. If you do not do that, the vote doesn't count. This prevents some spam voting or begging for votes from friends around the forum, as it lends some reasoning behind the voting. Thanks in advance for cooperating!

America's Vincent K. McMahon and Japan's Antonio Inoki have begrudgingly joined forces
under the tutelage of the promiscuous precocious and perfect ten, A. Oxitron,
to create an Intercontinental wrestling card of somewhat-whelming proportions!

introducing

MCMAHON /// INOKI

Team AMERICA vs. Team JAPAN

~~~ Intercontinental Wrestling Derby Cup ~~~
THIS SHOW IS BROUGHT TO YOU IN INTERNATIONAL WATERS
NORTH-EAST OF INDONESIA, WEST OF HAWAII
____________________________________________________________________________________________________
As tensions rise between the Japanese wrestling scene and the American wrestling scene, many companies lose their greatest assets to other (sucky) companies, left with a comparatively minuscule amount to represent their chosen country.
As McMahon and Inoki take this business duel exceptionally seriously, the wrestlers on each side have mixed emotions. Some want to win, some want to have a good time, but some want to represent their team and bring them to victory over all.
The Intercontinental Wrestling Derby Cup begins with mediator and ESPN broadcaster Jonathan Coachman speaking to Team AMERICA leader Vince McMahon and Team JAPAN leader Antonio Inoki. The two promoters discuss their concepts and ideas for world wrestling control, and eventually begrudgingly shake hands to begin the show.
The camera pans out for a full view of the 500ft+ long leased aircraft carrier. The wrestling ring towards the back, the crowd of everyone else in this Kappa Auction Draft seated around.
:bahgawd B-but wait, what the heck is that?!
At the front end of the ship, a man is hung upside down by his feet! He seems to be unconscious! What has happened here?! Who is that?! It's... It's Aiden English!?
On-board medical staff and security have been notified. McMahon and Inoki are busy readying for their match later on tonight. But the show must go on!
MATCH ONE
TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH QUALIFIER
Bobby Roode vs. Roderick Strong
A respectful one on one match to decide Austin Arie's tag team partner later on tonight.
Both Bobby Roode and Roderick Strong are former tag team champions with Austin Aries. Roode a former 5 time TNA World Tag Team Champion, once with Aries, and Strong a 1 time ROH World Tag Team Champion with Aries.
Roode and Strong however, have both taken a liking to Inoki, as they have strong disdain for Vince McMahon, therefore this match will have no effect on the outcome of Team AMERICA vs. Team JAPAN.
Shaking hands at the beginning, as both men know this qualifies one of them to have an opportunity to become tag team champion again, we start with your typical bit of chain wrestling. Ultimately, the match comes to an end as Roode tries to hook the leg for his Pay Off, and Strong lifts his knee into Roode's face, then lifting him into a vertical suplex, dropping him back-first into his knees, hitting the Strong Breaker for the victory.
Your winner, Roderick Strong, after approximately fourteen minutes.
We come back from commercial to find Jonathan Coachman working with security to find out what happened to Aiden English and his partner Simon Gotch. English is in a stable state, but is unconscious. Gotch is nowhere to be found, and Coachman is suspecting the worst for the Team AMERICA duo.
MATCH TWO - HARDCORE MATCH
IWGP INTERCONTINENTAL CHAMPIONSHIP MINI-TOURNAMENT MATCH
Terry Funk vs. Minoru Suzuki
The Texas hardcore legend, and one of Japan's most well-known modern shoot wrestlers one on one.
As part of the agreement, both the WWE and IWGP Intercontinental Championships are up for grabs for either Team AMERICA or Team JAPAN wrestlers in a two-round tournament. Terry Funk and Minoru Suzuki go one on one to move on to the second, final round.
Mutual respect is clear between the two as they meet in the ring before the bell rings. Chairs, bats and barbed wire are placed in the corners of the ring; tables and bags of knickknacks are placed around the outside. As soon as the bell rings, the two immediately start brawling in the middle of the ring. After minutes of hardcore shoot-style wrasslin' that would seem like decades for both participants, a battle of piledrivers begins. Funk kicks out of Suzuki's piledriver, and Suzuki kicks out of Funk's piledriver. The match continues for a much slower, but more brutal five minutes until Suzuki makes the mistake of turning his back on Funk, who is seated on the turnbuckle. As Suzuki sets up a table, he turns to Funk performing a moonsault, putting both through the table, with Suzuki taking much more damage. Funk gets to his feet after a short while, and lifts Suzuki into a piledriver on the broken table for the victory.
Your winner, Terry Funk, after approximately seventeen minutes.
A short break is taken as the ring is cleared up. We visit Antonio Inoki backstage with his right-hand man, Masahiro Chono. A Japanese interviewer asks Inoki what would be next for him if he defeats McMahon in his match. Inoki responds by firing the interviewer for asking if instead of when. Chono laughs as Inoki sips on his miso soup.
Simon Dean Segway scoots down the ramp and enters the warzone. He claims that he has defected to Japan as America banned his Simon System for being too alike Cocaine. Dean begins a short rant about fitness, supplements, and how much he hates fat people. He calls Japanese Enforcer Bull Nakano out to defend him from the angry fatties in the audience who may or may not be involved in the Kappa Auction Draft.
Nakano, however, is subjected to subtle insults about her size as Dean attempts to use her as an example, which was his plan all along - not for her to protect him from the audience.
Nakano responds by throwing Dean's Segway over 100 feet over the ring, straight into the ocean. Dean turns around, horrified, as Nakano hits a stiff Lariat. She lifts Dean up, throwing him into the turnbuckle. Dean rebounds off and Nakano lifts him for a Bull's Poseidon. Nakano then stuffs Dean into his own duffel bag, picks him up and walks off with him.
Another seemingly double loss here for Team JAPAN.
MATCH THREE - LADDER MATCH
WOMEN'S INTERCONTINENTAL WRESTLING DERBY CHAMPIONSHIP CUP
Sasha Banks vs. Sara Del Rey
WWE's best female performer of the modern era takes on arguably one of the most influential women wrestlers of the independent scene.
One of the few permanent championships up for grabs in a prestigious ladder match between two fantastic women wrestlers, as the Intercontinental Wrestling Derby Cup championships are for the best of the best, and a win is a permanent accolade.
Sasha Banks is quick to rub off Sara Del Rey, as before the bell rings, Sasha is already taunting the audience as if she's going to win the championship. Sasha is known as a disrespectful person, but this is a new level for her. Del Rey stands watching, ready for the bell to ring, as Sasha seems self-absorbed.
The bell rings and Del Rey immediately gets the upper-hand as Sasha was preoccupied. Del Rey completely dominates the first portion of the match without resorting to any cheap tactics, simply out-wrestling Sasha Banks to exhaustion. It isn't until almost a third of the way through the match Banks gets a real hit in, as she holds on to the apron as Del Rey tries to drag her in by her legs. Del Rey steps over to grab Banks by her head, but Banks uses the opportunity to slip out of the ring. As Del Rey steps through the ropes, Banks pulls her leg out, and Del Rey slams into the apron back first, then falls to the outside.
Sasha Banks holds control for another few minutes, dragging Del Rey into the ring along with a ladder and setting them both up for a double-knee stomp in the corner, in which Del Rey would be sandwiched between Banks and the ladder. Del Rey moves out of the way however, and Banks' knees slam into the ladder hard. Del Rey gets to her feet, and does a running axe kick to Banks, smashing her head into the turnbuckle.
Throughout the rest of the match, it seems to be quite equal as Del Rey tries to out-wrestle Banks, but Banks utilises the no DQ stipulation to her advantage.
Banks sets up and begins climbing the ladder. Del Rey comes up after her, and the two begin brawling at the top. Banks hits a disrespectful slap on Del Rey who responds with a flurry of angry punches. Banks is unable to reverse the recklessness, and Del Rey slams Banks' head into the ladder. Del Rey drags Banks around the ladder, and hooks her into a butterfly at the top of the ladder. The crowd erupts and SHIRLEY creams himself. Del Rey performs a Royal Butterfly from the top few steps of the ladder, and both women are down for a whole minute.
Del Rey gets to her feet first and begins climbing the ladder. Banks is slowly getting to her feet behind her. Del Rey climbs each step at a slow pace, and Banks is able to grab her foot and keep her from climbing any further. The two scream at eachother, and Del Rey drops from the ladder to deal with Banks, but Banks surprisingly catches Del Rey, dropping her into a Bank Statement. Holding the submission in for over thirty seconds, Del Rey begins to fade and passes out.
Sasha Banks slowly-but-frantically climbs up the ladder, and grabs a hold of the championship cup.
Your winner, Sasha Banks, after approximately twenty-one minutes.
MATCH FOUR
WWE INTERCONTINENTAL CHAMPIONSHIP MINI-TOURNAMENT MATCH
Damien Sandow vs. Rusev w/ Lana
Sandow who has been given his old gimmick back as blackmail to fight for America, faces vehement American hater Rusev with Lana.
Damien Sandow has adopted a Killer Kowalski-like ruthlessness in the past few weeks and has become a prime choice for McMahon's Team AMERICA. However, he's up against the Bulgarian Brute, whose disdain for America has made him team with Inoki and Team JAPAN. To make matters worse, his fiancee Lana has also come to support him, and the two are once again together.
Damien Sandow gets a surprising amount of damage in at the beginning of the match, attacking Rusev as he is kissing Lana on the apron. As the match has not officially began, Sandow takes advantage and assaults Rusev non-stop at ringside as Lana yells at him to stop.
Lana rips at Sandow's hair and beard, and he turns around and smacks her. Sandow lifts Lana up readying for a piledriver. Rusev saves Lana by superkicking Sandow's leg, and rolling him into the ring.
A brawl ensues, but the match ends as Sandow turns one little bit too far - and Rusev locks in the Accolade, screaming at Sandow in Bulgarian. Sandow doesn't tap out, but fades out and the referee awards the victory to Rusev.
Your winner, Rusev, after approximately eight minutes.
BREAKING NEWS: Aiden English has woken up. He's hard of breathing and can barely get any words out, and seems disillusioned. He's unsure where he is, or what's happening, but the only words he can get out are "Where's... Simon...?" English will continue to be looked after, and Gotch will continue to be looked for.
MATCH FIVE
OBLIGATORY WORKRATE MATCH
Sami Zayn vs. Kota Ibushi
Zayn and Ibushi have... never met :side:...
and it's an incredible match people... really want to see for the first time :side:...
I'll let you use your imagination for how incredible a match like this would be. Just go look for El Generico vs. Kota Ibushi and pretend El Generico is Sami Zayn. Yeeeeaaaa, that'd be greeeaat. I gotta tell you the winner though...
Your winner, Kota Ibushi, after approximately nineteen minutes.
MATCH SIX
IWGP INTERCONTINENTAL CHAMPIONSHIP MINI-TOURNAMENT MATCH
Scott Norton vs. Stan Hansen
Two of Japan's most well known and hard hitting Gaijin's facing off in the first round of the mini-tournament
This match is to decide the IWGP Intercontinental Champion. Hansen and Norton are both well known strong style wrestlers from America who became famous in Japan, but they've never wrestled eachother. Until now.
I only really wanted to give a rundown of the Sasha Banks vs. Sara Del Rey match. The rest are up to your imagination, so use it wisely. But as you gotta know the victor...
Your winner, Stan Hansen after approximately thirteen minutes.
American interviewers go backstage and see Vince McMahon, butt-naked, sitting on the bathroom floor. Vince sees the interviewers and, in shock, demands he leave for a moment. The interviewer steps out of the locker room, but is approached by Scott Hall. He asks if the interviewer knows if Vince is in there, to which he replies yes, of course. You don't lie to the bad guy. Hall tells the interviewer to get the hell out, as Hall opens the door, and Vince is standing there, fully dressed in wrestling gear. They shake hands, share some quick words, and Hall is on his way out.
MATCH SEVEN
NWO'S ALLEGIANCE
Scott Hall vs. Masahiro Chono
nWo vs. nWo - or alternatively - nWo America vs. nWo Japan
One of the three founders of nWo in America and the founder of Japan's nWo, both a part of nWo in WCW, face eachother in a one on one match. The winners team will officially own the rights for using the nWo name and likeness.
Only five minutes into the match, Chono gives up and walks out of the ring, allowing himself to lose by count-out. Hall calls Chono back out, calling him a pansy. Chono walks back out seemingly very angry, and enters the ring cautiously. Only to shake hands with Hall and state his plan to join Team AMERICA!
Antonio Inoki must be furious, to say the least. He just lost his lackey!
Your winner, Scott Hall, after approximately six minutes.
MATCH EIGHT
TAG TEAM INTERCONTINENTAL WRESTLING DERBY CHAMPIONSHIP CUP
The New Day (Big E & Kofi Kingston w/ Xavier Woods) vs. Ausin Aries & Roderick Strong
Former ROH Tag Team Champions take on WWE Tag Team Champions.
The power of positivity... or bad booking... has allowed New Day to come in fresh, where one of their two opponents is still feeling the effects of the opening match tonight. How will Aries and Strong fare against the fresh two time WWE Tag Team Champions?
Leave it up to your imagination again. Just imagine Aries and Strong absolutely dominating Kofi Kingston as Big E wants the tag, but just can't get it. Woods gets involved and the referee is distracted, and New Day take advantage somehow and eventually win by pinning the already groggy Strong.
Your winners, The New Day, after approximately twelve minutes.
MATCH NINE
WWE INTERCONTINENTAL CHAMPIONSHIP MINI-TOURNAMENT MATCH
Xavier Woods vs. Bo Dallas
The dealer vs. The junkie.
Months have went by since Bo Dallas was rejected positivity by the New Day. He sat at home, clawing at his arms, picking at his skin, until he decided to come back with a vengeance. An angry Bo Dallas looks to relapse in this one on one match with Xavier Woods.
Xavier Woods is already in the ring, however, Kofi Kingston and Big E have left to celebrate, as Woods told them he can certainly handle himself. Bo Dallas enters with a hard, heavy, death metal theme, which he cuts off with a promo...
Bo Dallas exclaims he has defected to Team JAPAN just to get his hands on Woods. And if he wins, he'll take his point and spend it on positivity instead of giving it to Big Boss Man Antonio Inoki.
The match begins, and is equal throughout. Though, the anger of Bo Dallas has made him wrestle like Daniel Bryan crossed with Steve Austin crossed with Steve Blackman - a real triple threat - and made him feel virtually no pain whatsoever. Kinda like Terminator too.
Woods, being a smart guy with his PhD at this point, realises that Bo Dallas just needs positivity. Woods offers to give him the purest form of positivity on the market, as Dallas, bleeding from his eyes and scratched up arms gleefully accepts. Woods chants "Bo, Dal-las!" and Dallas stands in confusion. His anger increases, and he knocks Woods out of the ring. Dallas follows him and slams his head into the announcers table. Woods picks something up though...
Dallas grabs a hold of Woods' weave afro thing, and Woods swiftly turns around, jabbing Dallas in the neck with a syringe! It's cheap positivity! The high is dirty, and Dallas falls to his knees. Woods slides into the ring and gets the count-out victory.
Your winner, Xavier Woods, after approximately ten minutes.
All wrestlers except Aiden English who is half-dead, Simon Gotch who has gone missing, and Bo Dallas who is being treated for a possible overdose of positivity, surround the ring and join the audience. Jonathan Coachman enters and announces the upcoming match. He states this match is the most incredible thing you'll ever see in your lives.
Another never-before-seen match, Vincent Kennedy McMahon vs. Whatever his Muslim name is Antonio Inoki, for leadership and overall control of professional wrestling on planet earth.
Some Team JAPAN wrestlers are seen conversing with some Team AMERICA wrestlers, breaking kayfabe - which angers audience member IceTheRetroKid - and he has a breakdown and is escorted off the boat to a smaller security boat, temporarily.
MATCH TEN - HELL IN A CELL ON A BOAT
THE FINALE. THE BIG ONE. THE SCRAMBLE FOR DOMINANCE.
Mr. McMahon vs. Antonio Inoki
The man who started it all as we know it, versus the man who started it all as the Japanese know it. I think. Anyway, it's a big match.
Mr. McMahon is no stranger to wrestling matches - even Hell in a Cell matches, but he has nothing on Antonio Inoki, who rose to be a wrestling promoter through his storied career as one of Japan's most well known stars. With Team JAPAN slightly behind in points, Inoki needs this victory to equal Team AMERICA's point count. Luckily for him, as leaders of the teams, this match is worth double points.
Just imagine this match in a cell, which lasts about four times as long
Your winner, Antonio Inoki, after approximately twenty-one minutes.
The show has ended for the night, and Mr. McMahon is being taken to the back for medical reasons.
The next card will answer multiple questions...
What happened to Aiden English?
Where is Simon Gotch?
What's happening with the New World Order?
Will Bo Dallas die?
Is Simon Dean ever going to escape?
Will we see Scott & Scott vs. Simon & Simon?!
Did Vince McMahon die too?
Who will be the two new additions?!
Keep your eyes on the prize, fellas.
Really like what Chemical did wither her female heavy roster and a Cena/Balor match would be great.
But top to bottom Oxi has more matches I really would want to see, and Oxi still has the best women's match on his card with Sasha vs SDR.
Great effort from both, but Oxi, just edges it out for me.
#6 · (Edited)
The Simon Dean/Bull Nakano segment is what won my heart. Worth the price of admission IMO.
I vote OXI.
EDIT: Further Analysis
My top match for OXI: Funk/MiSu
My top match for chemical: Trish/Kelly (one more chance to see Kelly hit the ropes lel)
Back in my day it wasn't about the flips and the workrate, it was about telling a story! And both OXI and chemical achieved this!
That being said, what really puts OXI's card as one of my faves this round is there are 4 really intriguing matches (Vince/Inoki, Norton/Hansen, Ibushi/Zayn, and Funk/MiSU) and he made something out of nothing in other matches/segments (Woods/Dallas, Simon Dean segment). If he moves on, there is easy progression to follow.
I tip my hat the chemical for committing to an all women's card and sticking with it. Unfortunately, I don't watch current WWE so I'm not familiar with some of the featured women (I recognize the names Bayley, Bliss, and Lynch, but haven't seen them work).
I thought Oxi's card was well-assembled in terms of the overall theme and the match setups. I enjoyed the comedic bits used to set the matches up as well; although I ultimately judge on the matches themselves, these certainly didn't hurt.
I had little-to-no interest in an all-Divas card, and wasn't terribly excited when chemical's draft strategy revealed itself. HOWEVER, I thought this was a tremendous job with how you selected your matchups, and the thought process that went into it. Ultimately, you made this a close matchup - which is something I would've said was IMPOSSIBLE on draft day. So a sincere kudos and hats off to you for making this something I would actually go "hey, you know what, I might watch that!"
In the end though, Oxi has the matches that I could see myself sitting down in front of the TV for a few hours to enjoy. That's why Oxi gets my vote here. Great job to each of you though.
Chemical went overkill on the Divas matches unfortunately, but I for one would like to see Cena/Balor. However, gotta go with Oxi as the clear cut winner. Really enjoyed reading his card. He obviously put a lot of thought into his theme and I especially enjoyed how he integrated some WWE stars into the Japan roster (i,e Rusev). McMahon and Inoki as the ME put it over the top.
CASE AGAINST OXITRON:
- Was hoping for something more specific like NXT vs. NJPW
- America and Japan aren't continents. Hence not "Intercontinental".
- You didn't have Terry talk
- Not gonna read a Sasha Banks match that long
- Sandow the Arab fighting for America
- Generico as "Zayn"
- Zayn the Canadian fighting for America
- There appear to be more than the legal amount of stips
CASE FOR OXITRON:
- Figured you would do Vince vs. Inoki
- Aircraft carrier = EVENT
- Funk vs. Suzuki
- Ice berried lel
- Inoki shooting on Vince
- New Day vs. GenNext
CASE AGAINST CHEMICAL:
- Are word-for-word promo write-ups necessary?
- Alexa over Mrs. Ass? :CENA
- PEOPLE'S MINGES ARE OUT
CASE FOR CHEMICAL:
- One of the best themes in the round
- You played to your strengths
- I read Paige's promo in her voice
- Trish vs. Kelly would draw money
- I'd watch Bayley vs. Becky
THE DECISION:
Chemical has a roughly equal amount of positives and very few negatives.
Oxi may have fucked himself by not taking a "less is more" approach.
Very close but Chemtrails wins.
I'm going to vote for chemical's on the grounds that she had the gonads to make an all women's card. I actually like a lot of the pairings on OXITRON's card (Zayn vs. Ibushi is tempting and so is Sasha Banks vs. Sara Del Ray)
but chemical's card just makes a complete womens match dream.
#25 ·
Voting on myself so I don't have to fucking click the "View Results" link every god damned time to check my results.
Ignore it, please.
#26 ·
I'd put the top two matches of both cards on a par:
Zayn v Ibushi/Cena v Devitt and Becky v Bayley/Sasha v Sara
chemical does have a slightly better midcard of pairings that have worked AJ/Kaitlyn and that could work Natalya/Paige. Oxitron's pairings largely consist of midcarders and shit, although tbf he's presumably saving his bigger matches for later.
Winner chemical
