Now that this generation is "over" - what were the top 10 games?

This stems from the general Gaming thread.

Now that GTA V is out, the last "major" title exclusive for this generation, what games stood supreme?

Hmm, well the definite games should look something like

Red Dead Redemption
Fallout 3
Assassin's Creed II
Castlevania: Lords of Shadow
Gears of War 3
Mass Effect 2
Battlefield 3
Super Mario Galaxy
Dark Souls
Borderlands 2
Halo 3/Reach
Batman Arkham Asylum
The Last of Us
Saints Row III?

This is obviously more than 10, but i think that a LOT of us would agree that almost any of these games could be argued as being list worthy. Even if you hate the series, you acknowledge that many other people liked the game. I personally liked Dishonored more than The Last of Us, but i understand my opinion of that is probably in the minority. Picking the best game in a series is also subjective often times. Example - I actually enjoyed Assassin's Creed: Revelations the most, but i understand that ACII is considered by mot fans the best of the Ezio games.

I think that if i had to really narrow that list, the games that are unquestionably on the list are:

Assassin's Creed II
Mass Effect 2
Red Dead Redemption
Fallout 3
Super Mario Galaxy

Those games were all fucking awesome. I really do not see how any of them is not on a top 10 list.

Grand Theft Auto V
The Last of Us

Did these games come out too late to "represent" the generation? Merely a question that everyone can deliver their input into.

Battlefield 3
Borderlands 2

Shooters get overlooked often, for the reasons sports games do - they are yearly releases 9at least some are). Does either of these warrant a spot?

Feel free to discuss these games, or even add something I may have forgotten. This generation lasted a long time, so there may be other candidates, but the list above is already over 10 with much quality to be found. I'm sure there is a couple games I forgot.

Call of Duty 4 - I know Call of Duty gets a lot of hate and recently I agree, but Call of Duty 4 was just such a blast and it's one of the best FPS games I've played, especially Online. It's really what got me in to Online Shooters.

Halo 3 - I used to play the Custom Games constantly. Would just have a huge lobby of mates and play a whole variety of game types. I think I remember playing this game type called 'Omega Journey' if I recall correctly, and you basically had to make your way through this tunnel whilst a slow but strong infected was following you. If someone got infected, they would become fast infected but could die easily. It was such a blast and I have so many great memories from playing that.

Grand Theft Auto V - Obvious reasons and personally one of my favourite GTA games ever. It has everything you would want from a game and the graphics are stunning. The Online mode is one of best Online experiences I've had and the fact it's running smoothly now for the most part is awesome.

Fallout 3 - I was very late in discovering Fallout, I was at a mate's house one day and noticed it. He said it was a really good game, so I borrowed it. Didn't expect to play it for long and ended up becoming hooked. I played through New Vegas too and loved it. I was so annoyed I brushed it off when it was first releasing, as it was such an exceptional game.
