I couldn't stand Heavy Rain or LA Noire, either. Boring games. I suppose I'm not completely against that style of game that's driven solely by narration and nothing else, but those 2 games just had boring stories.
I despise, despise Heavy Rain. I despise it's piss-poor writing, it's contrived narrative, and it's pathetic gameplay. I also hate that the plot doesn't actually start until at least an hour in. Before that it's JASON, JASON, JASOOONN. Awful.
LA Noire would've worked better if LA were actually alive. Obviously Cole Phelps isn't much of an extrovert or a people-person in general, so I doubt he'd visit LA big band clubs very often, but during the day you repetitively go from Point A to Point B without much deviance. Even the sidequests are just minor crimes. Streets are empty, no one seems to do much at all. Are citizens just waiting to be murdered so Cole can investigate? I don't get it.
