Unhappy Xbox Live Connection Help

Hello,

I've had xbox live for years, but alately the connection is being really shitty.

We have 3 people in the house using xbox live on 3 separate xbox all around the house. My connection is coming off the worst because the Xbox is in my room. (Furthest away from the router)

Does anyone have any tips for making the connection better?

Would buying a newer (and better) router fix things?
Moving the router?
Getting rid of wireless and connecting a wire upstairs?

I'll take any tips you all have, it's really annoying me now. I'll get into a match on FIFA and two minutes in the connection will go and im kicked off the game.

Re: Xbox Live Connection Help

Try resetting the router to get a fresh connection? Upgrading your internet package?Other than that there really isn't much you can do seeing as there are 2 other people using it at the same time(right?).You're always going to get some lag. IDK if running a hardwire would be that much of a boost, it will help but seeing as people are using it as well it can't be that huge. I could be wrong, its certainly worth a try . Maybe you can test it by bringing your xbox down to where you can connect it hardwire and see if it changes. If it does change, then run a wire through to your room. If that doens't fix it , its either too many people using it at the same time or you need an upgrade . Ultimately I'm not 100% sure.

Hmmm, thanks for the help. I know it's a hard one.

And yeah, most of the time all 3 of us will be online.

Upgrade the router is a problem, if it would help.
We pay quite abit for our internet connection, so I wouldn't be able to upgrade that.

Hmm, then it might need a hardwire then. The problem is that all 3 are on at the same time. Is anybody else getting connection issues? How many bars does your wireless get? That happens to me sometimes even when people use it. Sometimes you have to angle your xbox a bit to get it in a "sweet spot" to get full bars or at least over half

When I go on the 'test connection' on the Xbox I think it gets 2/3... then tells me to check the router.

Does buying a better router ever help? Or is that just a waste of money

The thing I can only say is try a hardwire. Bring your xbox down to another floor and test it there. I'm willing to bet that its because 3 people are using it at the same time as the biggest reason. Hardwire could help it as its more stable than wifi. A new router might not change things at all because of you being far away and 3 people on it at once
