Tomb Raider Nex-Gen Sequel confirmed

Square Enix has confirmed it is working on a Tomb Raider sequel for the next generation of consoles.

In an open letter, the company's Western CEO Phil Rogers confirmed that a sequel has been in development for some time.

"I am also excited to reveal that we are well into development on a next-generation Tomb Raider sequel – something you may have heard about recently," he wrote.

A sequel was pretty much guaranteed considering the game's success. We heard at Comic-Con this year that Dark Horse comics were producing a series set after the conclusion of the first game and designed to lead into the eventual follow-up.
Best game I played so far this year and I'm very excited that a sequel is in development.

Re: Tomb Raider Nex-Gen Sequel confirmed

Didn't Square Enix said that the game was a flop cause it didn't match Call Of Duty numbers or some shit like that?

Re: Tomb Raider Nex-Gen Sequel confirmed

Awesome news, i was new the the Tomb Raider series and the recent one was a great introduction. It was different from Anniversaries only from the puzzle standpoint though. Glad they didn't decide to can the series because the game didn't live up to their lofty expectations cuz it lived up to Crofty expectations

Next game they should get rid of the MP, it really didn't add an extra life to the game. Unless they plan on improving and making it like Last of Us which was an AMAZING single player adventure but also has amazing MP that is addictive and different. They also need to have a NG+, i still plan on playing it again on hard but think NG+ would be better.

I enjoyed the new one a lot more than I thought I would have so I'll be interested in this whenever it happens.

The exceptions for the game on SE end was unrealistic. Sold very well the first three weeks in march. I enjoyed the reboot and beat the game 4 times already and each with a different costume lol. The game on next gen will be amazing. Crystal Dynamics was working on the reboot for three years I think. I remember it was suppose to released in 2012 but they delayed it for 2013.

I hope they keep the open world and expand upon it. More challenging tombs and puzzles. Historical items, documents and Lara's journal and more gruesome death scenes

Definitely a on a NG+ mode

And I agree the MP needs to just go. I never once bothered with it. They could have put out more DLC for the SP campaign than for the mp. I was upset when the Hitman weapons were for MP only.

Re: Tomb Raider Nex-Gen Sequel confirmed

I never bothered with the costumes, i don't think that could bring me to beating the game 4 times lol. Only dlc i had was the extra which came with the game since i pre ordered it.

The open world was great, it wasnt like a Skyrim or GTA type open world but you had enough freedom that it sort of felt that way. On a Next Gen console i'd expect an even bigger world Wish they would reboot the movie franchise too, this new Lara would be perfect for a movie.

Re: Tomb Raider Nex-Gen Sequel confirmed

This was obvious from the way it sold. About 5 million copies sold and Square call it a flop.

The game was good but not perfect . Still a fantastic foundation to build upon.

Re: Tomb Raider Nex-Gen Sequel confirmed

A next-gen Tomb Raider sequel sounds amazing. I loved the reboot much more than I thought I would and am deeply excited for a sequel.
