Simple question. Have you (or do you) pirate video games instead of paying for them? Don't want to turn this thread into a judgefest. Just curious as to why some people do this. Personally I find it alright to do this for games that are not in print anymore and not being sold new in stores (basically anything pre-PS3/Wii/360) or that have not been localized ever in your region. Roms are keeping the retro titles alive. The publishers/developers are not getting any of the money on used games. So why not? Before a few weeks ago, the ONLY way to "legally" play Earthbound was to spend more than $200. $200 that Nintendo will never see.
Oh and the new Sim City game. I hope everyone pirates it and gets around the DRM and online only shit so EA can suck a fat one.
I have downloaded a lot of early Nintendo console roms, but mostly for games I actually own. I had a cracked Minecraft account for awhile but I recently bought a legit account. Downloaded a FPR rom but couldn't get it to work. Games I have straight up pirated would be Age of Mythology and most of the games on my iPod/iPhone.
