Fighting Games

So, I wonder how many of you play fighters. If so, I have some optional questions for ya:

1. Do you prefer 2D or 3D?
2. Favorite current-gen fighter?
3. GOAT fighter?
4. Main?

I'm currently playing TTT2, with my mains being Bryan/Kaz.
GOAT for me is SF: Third Strike (runner-up being Garou)

Def Jam: Fight for NY

One of the best fighting games I played for PS2.

Re: Fighting Games

Got to be Tekken. Loved the series since Tekken 2 back on the PS1.

I remember that game, I had a blast with it. Nothing quite like throwing Snoop Dogg in front of a train.

Re: Fighting Games

The King of Fighters series, and Killer Instinct Gold are my favorite fighting games by far.

I added KIG for the INSANE combos you could pull off in the game compared to other fighters on the market. The only drawback is the clumky proprietary N64 controller, ergonomically it was an awful design. The game is best played with a 3rd party controller if you can get your hands on one.

As for 3D vs 2D. I don't like 3D fighters because the odd camera maneuvering serves as a distraction more than anything. While it's an added part of the strategy to move your character around on the map, it feels more like a chore and isn't fun at all. 2D fighters all the way.

MK, Tekken, King of Fighters. Def Jam is a really good shout too. This reminds me I really need to get round to picking up Tekken Tag 2. Also Persona 4 arena when it's finally released here next month.

Not a conventional fighter but Anarchy Reigns is a bunch of fun to play, especially with friends. Sucks it has no local co op, though.

Re: Fighting Games

Way too difficult to pick between Tekken & Mortal Kombat. I've got blu-tacked up on my wall the drawings I've done of Kung Lao, Quan Chi and Heihachi/Kazuya/Jin. If I picked one or the other, I'd only see their judgemental eyes staring down at me from now on. Both franchises are boss in their own ways. MK = better universe, Tekken = better gameplay. (The special moves are brilliant, but the Tekken combos are a hundred times more fluid and fun to pull off)

I only got to play KI a couple of times at a friend's years and years ago, so I can't say too much on it. But I'm glad someone shouted KOF, XIII is fucking amazing; especially how it improved vastly over XII with better mechanics (Drive Cancel, Hyperdrive etc). Plus, the music is brilliant. Probably the best KOF since '98 UM for me.
