I actually stopped buying FIFA because of PES for a few years. From PES 4, I was playing FIFA for around 5 years at that time, then this new concept comes out exactly at the right time when FIFA was pretty stale for me. Until 2008, after that I felt that the gap between FIFA and PES wasn't even close and it grew every year since then unfortunately.
I will never forget this game. Henry, Totti and Collina, nostalgic.

I got really tired of scripting in Fifa 13, that's why I switched to Pes 2013, I've heard it's not as bad on Pes 2013 as it is on Fifa 13. My favorite PES was PES5, it was ahead of it's time about scripting... we'll see. I've played at least 300-400 games on Fifa so I could see every time the game starting scripting goals and stuff, I've only played like 10 games on Pes2013 it seems pretty cool.
I never did understand why people liked Fifa more than PES,To me PES is superior to Fifa and is more enjoyable.
The transition to PS3/Xbox 360 was, well lets say rough. EA built a new engine for it whilst Konami just stuck with the old one and modified it I believe so once the full shift to PS3/Xbox 360 happened Fifa already had a massive headstart even with the little things like 360 movement whilst for a long time PES only had the 8-16 direction system and even the licensing. I think it was 2008 where the two licensed Uk teams were Newcastle and Spurs. The licensing was never much an issue for me as you can always just download an option file but to the casual fan the amount of licensing does sway the decision.
Next-gen should be interesting though. I was reading an article in a magazine that the inclusion of the Fox Engine from MGS5 allows you to control the players body whilst they are on the ball so leaning back for shots, full shimmy control etc should occur.
Yes, the FOX engine does sound great and I'm glad Konami is finally making that transition but I think they're gonna take a few years to make it an actual decent game. I have faith PES 16 or PES 17 will be great. Like really great. Pes 14 will be somewhat ok.
I actually just popped in my old ISS Pro Evolution game since I still have the disc, and damn that game is hard after not playing it for years. The worst thing is you can't use the analogue stick, so it's all directional buttons and in this day and age that feels really stiff. This was only on normal difficulty but I couldn't get going at all and lost 5-0 haha. Then I switched to easy and managed to win 4-1. Still a fun game though, the passing always felt nice and smooth.
