games that could use a reboot
Me and some friends were recently talking about how there are some games that have been around while, but havr sort of run its course with its current style, or could simply use a reboot just to shake things up. The discussion was brought about by nintendo simply rereleasing the same few titles on each system without changing very much.
What are some games uou can think of that could use a reboot/reimagining?
For example, we thought it would be cool to see a co-op Metroid game. There could be cool puzzleswhere one pplayer has to morph into the power ball and solve something in another room while the other player hits switches in a different eoom, etc. It could also (slightly) incorporate cocer systems to allow a more in depth team play.
Another was smash brothers. Instead of another fighting game, make it a racing game. Each pkayer can still have attacks and there can still be items and what not. Basically ot would be a comno of smash bros and mario kart.

Re: games that could use a reboot
Another World.
The Dig.
Anachronox.
Blade Runner.
Give these four games a reboot with the proper graphics upgrade and expansion on the worlds. All were great for their time, but they're all severely dated and in the case of the last two.. bug/glitch infested.
I think Blade Runner is the one that holds up the best today, and it was far ahead of it's time in 1997. Would love to see a version that is much more fleshed out, while keeping the essence of what made the original so great.
EDIT: Adding E.Y.E Divine Cybermancy. imo this could've been my favorite RPS ever if it wasn't for the piss poor developement. The game made Skyrim's bugs seem non existant. REBOOT

Morrowind, think about updated graphics and voice acting, that would amazing!
Also the very hyped but very dissapointing Duke Nukem, it had a very big fanbase, but the game was boring and didn't bring anything new.

Re: games that could use a reboot
I think that I have said this around here somewhere before but I have always wanted a Castlevania II: Simon's Quest next-gen remake. I don't want to see it become a 3-D beat 'em up or a hand held release, I just want it to be fixed. Updated graphics, remove bugs/glitches, fix the translation errors, eliminate the massive need for grinding, make the clues be actually informative/make sense (no one is figuring out the ducking with a crystal to get the tornado to show up on their own). Make the town & mansion names more prominent. Things like that. I like the story & I like the RPG elements of the game. You don't see 2-D side-scrolling RPGs very often. Certainly not nowadays.

I've been saying it for years and I'll say it again: Spartan: Total Warrior. Spent so many hours on that game.

Lol no. That would simply be Mario Kart with more characters, and Mario Kart has run it's course as far as I'm concerned. There's been 7 Mario Kart games for console, and only 3 Super Smash Brothers games. Mario Kart needs a reboot if anything. Super Smash Brothers is great, Nintendo has confirmed there's a new Super Smash Brothers game in the works for the Wii U, and that game will likely be the ONLY reason I will probably end up buying a Wii U. Smash Brothers is one of the best things Nintendo ever came up with, a game with all your favorite Nintendo characters battling out. Smash Brothers has a big competitive market as well, unlike most other Nintendo games, so I don't see how it's run it's course.

I've been asking Konami for several years now to remake the first 3 games for the DS, now the 3DS. Even 16 bit HD graphics would be fine and they could fix all the shitty bugs on Simon's Quest, or add certain things to it. I'd be fine if they left the games alone, but just made them "bigger" with minor changes. I say this because in scale with today's games, those ones were kinda small and need to be modernized for more gameplay. Nothing dramatic.
