I hope Sony does the same exact thing. Because everyone who is bitching is still going to buy one of the consoles if they do this, you will accept it, and you will like it.

I've never had a game system connected to the internet, fuck that shit, I don't want to play multiplayer.

Funny how no one wants to jump ship to the Wii U even thought it is technically "next gen" too.

The point is, things happen. Internet goes down and not everyone in North America has steady internet or even has internet. Microsoft is alienating that consumer base. Regardless, we are the consumer, it is their job to appease us, not the other way around. Why would anyone buy a console which will be an inconvenience any time the internet goes down for maintenance, high traffic, or inclement weather.

Plus, we have seen this before and the last instance of something like this, there was lag in a single player game.

What the fuck, are you serious? What shitty city do you live in where your internet goes down because of inclement weather and overwhelming traffic on the network?? You connecting to the internet in a third world country? How often does your ISP perform maintenance?

I'm accepting what developers give me? lol no. Don't even try to put words in my mouth. This isnt a really good decision by them, but I'm not complaining because I have (for the overhwelming majority of the time) a stable internet connection, and dont have to worry about throwing a fit of rage if I cant play skyrim for a few hours a month because of internet downtime.

Microsoft has been "alienating" it's consumer base (and note the quotes) for quite some time. They don't seem to be feeling it in the pocketbook much, grossing $73 BILLION dollars in revenue last year. I'm still missing the point anyone has yet to make about why requiring an internet connection is so bad, when basically everyone and their mother (1/4 of the world, to be exact. Source: http://www.internetworldstats.com/stats.htm) has a working internet connection.

There is a difference between complaining about something valid, and complaining just to make noise. And all I see in this thread is alot of noise because Microsoft wants to change a part of their business model to basically "require" something most households already HAVE.

Can I buy one Seph and not use the shitty 3D effect...?!

If this actually stopped me from playing any games then I'll certainly have a problem with the console., like that stupid Error 37 for Diablo, or whatever it was. But if I'm still allowed to play my games like I can when LIVE is down then I'll be fine.

As for Used Games that's a big subject for gamers, developer and publishers today. For me I have no problem with them, why shouldn't someone get rid of a game that they don't want? They won't be making a profit off it, selling it for less than what they bought it for. I also see it as them selling their purchase, they don't want it anymore, so I don't see it as Developers not getting the money from the sale.

The thing I hate is when companies are selling Used Games at pretty much the same price as New ones, they are the problem. They are making the profit from them. These are the ones that Game Companies are trying to stop and forgetting about their fans.

Still, I do buy a Used Game here and there but most of my purchases are brand new games mainly because I actually have the money to buy them new. I spend a lot on Collector's Editions, and I which more games companies did them, and I don't mean those shit ones that they call Limited Editions and only have a DLC code in them.

Yes they are different. They're 2 different worlds. Its not about being able to connect it,its the fact that they're taking the option to play offline completely. Sometimes I don't sign in or play online, sometimes I don't like to be bothered. Also, playing online all the time uses up internet usage , not everyone has unlimited usage. If you can't see the big deal, then you're just lost in this conversation.

The fact that, you can't even bring over your game to a friends house without having to bring your new xbox is ridiculous. Locking the game to your console is absurd. Not everyone drops 60$ for games , not saying used games are the way to go but you have to think of it that way. There are people that have bills to pay on important things , sometimes they can't always get new games so they play with their friends but since the games are console locked you can't exactly do that without the hassle of bringing your console as well as the game.

Thats the big deal

Nope. If Sony does the same thing, I'm not going to buy either of these consoles, I'll just stick with my X360 and many people will do the same. This could be the advantage Sony needs. Their sales will be ridiculously higher than Microsoft's if they make DRM-free games for the PS4

That's awful news if it's true. So they expect people to shell out $60 per game and basically be stuck with them forever. If all the problems I had with the 360's over the years wasn't a good enough reason to avoid buying their new system...this sure is.

I'll just stick with my Wii U. That's already paid for and I'm sure not wanting to spend $400+ on a system like that.

Whats funny is that PS4 had these same rumors well before xbox did. I think both will do the same or neither at all. I can't see 1 doing it while the other does.I'll stick with my 360 for a while though maybe I'll get the new consoles when they go down to 150$
