Yep, just like an older thread pointed, 2013 is shaping up to be the best year for gaming in recent times.

In contrast, which year sucked the most?

Many say it's 1984 when the shitty E.T. game was released and pretty much killed the Atari 2600, let alone the American gaming industry.

In recent times, 2006 was full of disappointment (i.e. Sonic the Hedgehog reboot, Final Fantasy XII, etc.). The Japanese gaming industry sort of decline at that point too where they continue to rely on older franchises, like Mario and Pokemon, and just sucked on creativity, the lame Wii "grandma" games.

In recent years, 2003 wasn't terrible, but not that great either.

I'm going to go with the obvious answer and say 1983-84 with the crash. Most notably thanks to the failure of E.T. and I'm sure the Pac-Man port didn't help it much either.

What about the current gen? So 2005/2006 to now?

Most years have been pretty decent at least IMO. I guess I'd pick 2012, many games moved back to 2013.

Yeah that's a no brainer. I would think the more "fun" discussion would be what year besides that one, or in recent memory. The entire 7th generation has been pretty good for the most part. There isn't one year that just sucked and had almost no quality titles. But I suppose it depends on how many systems you own and play. Console specific gamers might find certain years less appealing than others. 2009 ruled because Warhammer 40,000 Dawn of War 2 came out, but many people up here might of skipped it.

I guess the only one you could call from this generation is 2005 since that was the start and not many great games were released on the 360... Pretty much enjoyed all years following on from that year.
