The latest shooting tragedy (New Mexico) already blaming video games

http://usnews.nbcnews.com/_news/2013...olice-say?lite

I'm dreading the shitstorm that will follow if the kid really did enthusiastically talk about GTA V and COD during questioning. This might be the loaded gun that opponents of violent video games have been waiting for.

Violent video games will always get the blame since its an easy target. Theres probably more violence on basic TV than video games.

Just look at the picture of the kid and you can see he's fucked up in the head. I hate how the press believes all people that play violent video games are like this.

I am so sick of people blaming media and video games for peoples violent behavior. Psychopaths exist. We all know this. Why do we have to blame something for creating them? Could it be the the are born that way?

Re: The latest shooting tragedy (New Mexico) already blaming video games

I'm not 100% aginst the idea that games caused it, but its not games on "teens" its games on those type of people

look, lets be honest, people get affected by things in diffident ways, maybe he already was a psychopath, and the games made him excited, maybe he just lost track of reality, either way I dont think its games, I think its the mind playing the game

but games seem to always come up, of course some are just bull shit, but can we really say if someone like that could do that with out games, what affect would games have on those type of pepole?

Re: The latest shooting tragedy (New Mexico) already blaming video games

FFS the video game thing is such a cop out. A person will be a rectangle-headed piece of scum shit no matter what they do in their spare time. I just finished playing Banjo-Kazooie and I in no way will run out with a bird in my backpack talking in only muttered syllables. Why is it always games? Do they check violent TV and movies? I mean this time the kid was 'excited to talk about them' or some shit, but it's blamed like, every time. They're so quick to assume. I'll believe it when Chuggaaconroy, PBG or JonTron go around killing people.

Re: The latest shooting tragedy (New Mexico) already blaming video games

I used to get really angry at this stuff but now I simply dont care, they will always blame something for the ill's of society. They blamed books, cinema, tv and music for people behaving the way they do. Games will never get banned or stop being made because of news articles like this so dont worry or even give them attention

Re: The latest shooting tragedy (New Mexico) already blaming video games

If the argument were that certain video games were so frustratingly bad that it made a child snap and commit violence, then we should all be pointing fingers at assassin's creed 3. that game probably caused all the shootings since the day of it's release.

Please. Violent video games actually reduce violent behavior, not the other way around. You'll get the odd exception in a person here and there but those people are broken.
