Default Competitive gaming- Ya or Nay?

Hey guys.

I know comp gamers do get a lot of slack from other gamers, some rightfully so, but others just love the game they play and love competing.

I was just curious on what you guys thought. I, for one, play competitive Team Fortress 2 and co-own the team I play for. It's a lot of fun, but you do get some rude/arrogant/dickheads who think they're above everything and everyone.

I don't play competitively, but I'm fine with competitive gaming in of itself.

I've played some competitive Counter Strike 1.6 / Starcraft.

Made some bucks out of both. Nothing much that is.

Still enjoyed every moment.

I play Call of Duty competitively I suppose. Though its usually just me in a lobby with a bunch of random people. Other than that, my partner and I just play co-op games and take turns playing single player games together. Coming home and playing a game is a great way to cuddle up & have a kind of romantic evening with my man.

Played SSFIV competitively for a while. Didn't go to tournaments or anything like that, just online really. Met some cool people through Endless and Ranked Battles and got super pissed about losing in a close match. Really a good time until my subscription ran out. Haven't played since though.

Depends how you use the term. I have played GB on COD 4, BFBC2, and BF3.

EDIT:
GB is GameBattles for those who don't know.

Nay, don't really give a damn about competitive playing, but I don't mind playing Counter Strike with friends.

Default Re: Competitive gaming- Ya or Nay?

there are tournaments with titles and cash prizes nowadays so competitiveness can be somewhat understandeable

just as long there is a dividing line between games played for sport and others for the artistic quality that'll help this medium get some legitimacy
