Re: Xbox 720 may 'block' used games
We buy most of our games new so this really doesn't have an impact on us. I see lots of little kids trading in their games to buy newly released games. This move by Microsoft is going to hurt them.

Re: Xbox 720 may 'block' used games
What would happen if you buy a game but didn't like it?
Would you even be able to return it if they cant re-sell it?
Plus, over 75% of the games I own are used. I hope they dont go through with this.

Re: Xbox 720 may 'block' used games
Theoretically, if the wealth gap continues to grow and the middle class doesn't make a recovery, wouldn't the gaming companies be alienating the majority of the market?

Re: Xbox 720 may 'block' used games
I dont know, look at games in farm-vile where the poor people are spending hundreds of dollars a month
The problem is even if the majority dont "buy" so many would still buy used because it would be a "deal" (new game price will rise because its "new" and can be played with out "extra cost", and so they make more money then they would if they kept it the old way
people said they would never make money with DLC, they did and then some, they counter what ever amoutn dont buy it, and incress the price and know there is always going to be a % that will

Re: Xbox 720 may 'block' used games
If Microsoft does this and Sony does not, I'm getting a PS4 and NOT a 720. Vice versa. If both do it, then I still have my Wii U and PC.

As of now, I'd stick to your PC if I were you. It's been heavily rumored that both Sony & MS are doing this. But we'll just have to wait and see.

Re: Xbox 720 may 'block' used games
Yeah well, then, you can just go ahead and, block my dick.
Okay that didn't make any sense but fuck these guys if they go through with it. The amount of greed in the gaming industry is beyond ridiculous and I have no problems refraining from purchasing any next gen console if this is the kind of shit they're going to pull. Things like online passes and paying extra for used games and important features removed from games only to be released as DLC later are getting overwhelming here. Just trying to squeeze every last drop out of gamers, as they know fanboys will continue lapping this garbage up. I've just about had enough with the video game industry in general, think I might just let myself off and be left behind soon.

Re: Xbox 720 may 'block' used games
They would kill their own business by doing this. Can you imagine how many casual gamers and people simply wont upgrade if they couldnt rent, buy second hand or swap games between friends. I would still eventually buy the next xbox but I wouldnt end up playing most the games available.
They have also likely tracked this by looking at the amount of online profiles with achievements on a game and then the sales numbers. I bet they have double or triple the amount of " users " than sales.

Re: Xbox 720 may 'block' used games
If this gets reflected in the prices of games it could be a good move but you know they will still charge £40+.
