Re: Official Pokemon Discussion Thread!
Going to start White in an hour so but wanted to ask a few questions first. Could you guys recommend any decent Pokemon I could get near the start of the game (first few towns or whatever)? Pretty vague request I know, but I struggled to get in to the game last time the only decent Pokemon I saw was the Crocodile one... and possibly a fire one near that desert area.
I also seem to have a habit of filling up my party too fast, would I be better just ditching my starter, since this gen's seem to suck anyway? Would mean I could focus on other Pokemon.

Re: Official Pokemon Discussion Thread!
What about the starters? Are they worth it or should I just pick one and dump it in the box?

Fire Starter = Fairly Slow but good Attack
Water = Average in every way.
Grass = Quick but average Special Attack / Attack
They all get good move-sets, but you could easily find better Pokemon with a move-set just as good.
Edit:
Found something on the Neoseeker Forums that caught my attention.. It's probably bull, but it if not, I'ma the fuck out!

No new types, but there are “Cross-bred” Pokémon introduced. Certain father/mother breeding pairs will result in a visually distinct child, who will be the mother’s species, but will, for example, have a pattern reminiscent of its father or a slightly altered color scheme. This is basically the new Gender Difference and is simply an aesthetic bonus, nothing extreme and only certain pairings result in this…the Pokemon is still considered the species of its mother, it’s not a new species. One example I can give is that it is possible to get certain Pokemon sporting Pikachu’s red cheeks.

Re: Official Pokemon Discussion Thread!
I always like the water one Samurott, the only starter I've used for this generation games, the fire starter is the standard hohum fire/fighting, and grass type is pretty cool if you can get behind a move like coil (The user coils up and concentrates itself to raise its Attack, Defense, and Accuracy by one stage.) Darmanitan (the fire type you mentioned) vs Emboar(fire starter) is a push, Darmanitan is just lots of fun. There aren't very many water types, so if you pass on Oshawott, your best bet is probably Caracosta, one of the fossils you can get around the desert resort. And keep in mind, that whatever simi(blank)(grass/fire/water typings) you are given in the first gym area, you can still catch the others in Pinwheel forest.

Re: Official Pokemon Discussion Thread!
Grass/Steal? Oh lets fuck over the grass types vs the evr prevalent fire moves even more, oh, and no longer resistant to Earthquake, or a prevalent Brick Break/Close Combat/Focus Blast etc fighting moves.
Fuck, if we're getting a Viking, water type again it is mother fuckers!

Re: Official Pokemon Discussion Thread!
that grass on in B/W is pure shit. I tried it and just couldn't believe it. He only learns a few grass moves, and he has a very low list of TM's he can learn. Budew is much better. Speaking of which, my budew just evolved into roselia.

Serperior's Dream World Ability has to be the most OP, but at the same time, worst Ability I've ever seen..
Contrary - Makes stat changes have an opposite effect.
Combine this with Leaf Storm and instead of getting -2 Sp.Att each turn, you double your Sp.Att. Base 140 Power move that pretty much doubles in power for the next 3 turns.. It's a shame that the only other Pokemon to have this ability is Spinda, Snivy, Servine & Shuckle...
Congrats!
