I've caught five shinies in the wild, in Pokemon FireRed I caught two shinies a Zubat in Mt. Moon and a Marowak in Victory Road and I also nearly caught a Pidgeotto on Route 15 as well but it used Whirlwind. In Pokemon SoulSilver I caught a shiny Oddish at the Ilex Forest and finally in Pokemon White I caught two shinies a Woobat in Victory Road and a Rufflet at the Village Bridge.

don't you get a shiny dratini or garble (the shark looking dragon thing) at the end of B/W? just as part of the game? I don't care if my pokemon shine or not.

you cna't breed Tyrouge. you can only breed it once he evolves. So I wasted a shit load of time with him in the day care. On the other hand, I have a level 82 ditto now.

BW2, Gible in Black, Dratini in White. You have to beat a mammoth task post elite 4 to get it, my team pretty much leveled 30ish levels to the low 90's accomplishing that goal, just beating trainers.

Funnily enough I've only caught one shiny (aside from that Garydos) and it was a Tympole in Black/White. It was also the first one of that type I ran into in the game so I didn't realize it was shiny at first.

This is my problem too. Once I've got the outline of the final team I'm going to be leveling up for the elite four, I use repels everywhere.

I miss out on knowing where I can catch half of the pokemon in the game.

I usually sit for around 20 mins in a new area hunting for new Pokemon before moving on, and then when I know that there is nothing I want in that area, I just use Cut and chop the grass outta my way. Much cheaper

And I only use repels when wild Pokemon are really annoying me (like when I'm trying to get through a cave). I like to catch as many Pokemon as I can, so I don't use repels often. Plus you never know, there could be a shiny Pokemon in that grass you're repelling.
