1. Why did Wen Kinoc have the Crimson Squad killed? What did he gain from it?
2. Why did Sin destroy the original Zanarkand?
3. Is there an image anywhere of the human Yu Yevon?
4. Why did Bevelle and Zanarkand have a war?
5. Why did Yu Yevon create the dream Zanarkand when it seems like he could have put that energy into protecting the real one? Especially with the creation of Sin.
That's it for now.

I have not played this game in ages, but from what I remember regarding questions 2, 4 and 5. Supposedly Yu Yevon became uncontrollable and no longer human so the birth of Sin was a never ending cycle formed by an entity no longer in control of it's own mind. As seen in Final Fantasy 10 Sin shows up in random towns and cities and wipes them out. I am guessing Zanardkand was one of Sins early targets. Yu Yevon can no longer control sin so Sin just destroys anything. Sin was created to protect the original Zanardkand because Bevelle was winning the war. The cause of the war was because of technology or "machina" as they call it. Bevelle was more technologically advanced and Zanardkand feared the technology would destroy the world. Yu Yevon created dream Zanardkand because he was losing the war to Bevelle. He made people sacrifice themselves so they could forever live in this dream Zanardkand and create Sin as well to help fight Bevelle. Remember Sin is created by sacrificing people so that is probably why Yevon created the dream Zanardkand for the people who sacrificed themselves.
Yeah I come off as a GEEK lol but that game was one of the best PS2 games I ever played. I have not played other Final Fantasy games so I can't help you with FFX2.
1. FF X-2 questions will be ignored. The game doesn't exist. Forget you played it.
2. After summoning Sin, Yu Yevon's mind became unstable and he was unable to control Sin anymore. Because Yu Yevon originally tasked Sin with destroying large cities or cities that use technology and protecting DREAM Zanarkand (just the dream Zanarkand, not the real one), Sin destroyed Zanarkand following the task he was given.
3. No
4. Never said
5. Yu Yevon created dream Zanarkand and Sin with the survivors of Zanarkand. Essentially it was a mass sacrifice to save their "dream." Real Zanarkand was lost anyways. It was going to be destroyed by Bevelle, Sin just got to it first. There was no endgame where everyone would still be alive and Zanarkand would not be destroyed. It was either everything is destroyed, or everyone dies and Zanarkand is saved. It was just a bad turn of events that Sin became to powerful to control.
Edit: Don't think of Yu Yevon as a bad guy. He was a man who made a decision. Its like the ending of Neon Genesis Evangelion...

Good thing I skipped this game, was it really that bad?
Gameplay is great. The rest is awful. It totally ruins that sense of "hope" and "excitement" after seeing the ending off FFX with Tidus waking up and swimming to the top.
Edit: Oh...and this:

I'm the OP, and I have to agree with what's been said so far, the main reason I asked that question about the crimson squad is because I never could get through X-2, I've tried countless times, it's not particularly difficult (probably the easiest FF to date) but the game's just so tedious. It makes you feel nothing like FFX did, it's not even a 'fan service' game, just..........boring.
I thank you all for your answers but am hoping someone can still answer the question; "Why did Wen Kinoc have the Crimson Squad killed?" In FFX he knew Operation Mi'Hen was going to be a failure and let it happen so that people would continue to think Machina is bad, I guess it could have been something similar but have no idea what......
