Alright, well I'm counting it to make 1998 look even better.

As far as 97 vs 98 goes - I guess from a personal preference point of view, I'd be inclined to agree with you, because 4 of my top 10-15 games all time were that year alone: FFVII, FF Tactics, Total Annihilation, and of course Castlevania, Symphony of the Night. Total A is the greatest RTS of all time in my opinion; that fucking game was deep in 97 and the maps were huge. But not everyone holds all 4 of those games in as high regard as I do, and you probably have other games I didn't mention on your personal favorites list if you enjoyed 97.

Most definitely not confirmed or assured. I wouldn't places any wages when this game comes out. It could get pushed back to next gen consoles honestly - apparently Watch Dogs is rumored to be having the same treatment. At this point, it may be smart for Sony to save Last Guardian for just that purpose. 2013 has plenty of huge games as it stands already.

Last Guardian has likely been dead for over a year. Don't expect it next year.

Have all of these preordered

The Last Guardian had better come out sometime over the next few years. It's the game I originally bought my fucking PS3 for, after all. 2013 will probably be all about GoW: Judgement for me though, the GoW games are probably my most played online multiplayer games of all.

2013 looks good, but I don't think it'll top 2004 as the GOAT gaming year for me. I mean, that year was just stacked with good games.

Re: 2013 might challenge 1998 for best gaming year ever - take a look

Looks like another stellar year of gaming and I'm looking forward to it as usual. Got Painkiller and Anarchy Reigns coming out soon, so that should be fun. Even though I've heard mixed feelings on the new Platinum Games one. Still, I'm looking forward to it.

GTA 5, no explanation needed really. If it's as good as 4 I'll be happy.

Tomb Raider - Sadly I've heard rumours of multiplayer being in that game. *sigh*

Total War: Rome II - God I fucking love these games. Could play them all day. So excited for this.

Bioshock Infinite - That Songbird Edition is the sex. And if it's like the first I'll be happy.

Gears of War Judgment - Really liking what People Can Fly are doing with this, sort of making it a bit more arcade-y just like they did with Bulletstorm. So I'm excited.

Dead Space 3 - Fucking love this franchise even if they have put Co-Op in. Looking forward to seeing where Isaac's tale takes him this time.

And a fuck ton more...

Same here, brother. I loved the fuck out of that game even with it's underwhelming ending. And I'm probably one of the very few people on Earth that puts it over the second game. But the first will always be the best.

GTA V looks too good to be true, no doubt it'll be a GOTY candidate though!

GTA V will occupy HEAPS of my time, Last of Us looks epic, Watch Dogs promising and Beyond: Two Souls has me intrigued from the trailer I saw. Also the possibility of even an unveiling of a new Fallout game would be jizzworthy.

Re: 2013 might challenge 1998 for best gaming year ever - take a look

I didn't list Castlevania: Lords of Shadows 2, which may end up being my personal favorite game of 2013. The original kicked ass, but it doesn't seem like anyone up here gave it a chance unfortunately. I still recommend it to anyone who even kinda liked God of War - it's easily as good.

What's scary (awesome) about all of this, is that these games on the list, are all (mostly) slated for release in the first half of the year, to avoid next gen console launches. I didn't even touch handhelds, I imagine at least a few high quality games will emerge for the 3DS and Vita. And then the PS4 and X Box 720 or whatever they call them will emerge, and I would hope at least a few next gen games could be blowing people away. And for all I know, a new Zelda and Metroid could emerge on the Wii U, which could be GOTY contenders.
