Re: 2013 might challenge 1998 for best gaming year ever - take a look
GTA V is the only one sparking my interest. But something tells me it may just be more land and less gameplay to it. Also 50/50 on Watch Dogs.

OP, how could you leave off SimCity?

A joke.
Q: How could the OP leave SimCity off?
A: Because it's always on!
It's a joke specifically about SimCity's DRM, phrased like a paradox, and it's not very good.

Re: 2013 might challenge 1998 for best gaming year ever - take a look
Crysis 3 and Dead Space 3 are the ones I'm excited for the most. Others that interest me are Bioshock Infinite and Metro Last Light from the ones listed. Some other games garnered my interest as well, such as Remember Me, The Devil's Third, Watch Dogs, XCOM and Dead Island: Riptide.

Suidoken II also came out that year I do believe. So when you say...

Nah, I definitely meant 1998. I was old enough to experience both years to their fullest, and played almost every great game from both of those years. But 2007 was virtually as good and the point could easily be argued, sure. I suppose it would make for a future poll discussion after this one. Up here, 2007 might win, as I'm not sure everyone here was old enough to be able to buy games at their leisure back in 1998.

You know, I didn't forget, but I was running out of room and thought "Yeah, I bet nobody gives a shit about Simcity up here anymore" so I stand corrected because at least two of you wanted it. Same goes for Company of Heroes II to whomever said it. I suppose I could of taken The Last Guardian off, since it's very possible that it won't ship in 2013, but I thought it would have a shitton of votes and support.

Suikoden 2 came out everywhere except Japan in 99. It dropped Dec. 17 in Japan.
I prefer 97 to 98.

Black Mesa, Machinarium and The Witcher 2 aren't games that were first released this year. The Witcher 2 is from 2011, Black Mesa is almost 10 years old (yeah, this was a better version of Half Life) and Machinarium was released in like 2009 or so. You could've added Doom 3 to that list with this effort.
