Video Game Sales Decline Continues

http://finance.yahoo.com/news/video-...142924228.html Strong sales of the latest Call of Duty and Halo sequels were not enough to prevent a drop in annual US video game sales, according to research firm NPD. It suggests sales of hardware and software sold by retailers were down 11% on the year in November. |

Re: Video Game Sales Decline Continues
Why is this here? It also doesn't matter because we are almost at the end of the current gen, people's interests will peak once more when the new consoles come out and sales will soar again.

Re: Video Game Sales Decline Continues
One thing to consider, is that last I checked, sales reports usually exclude online and digital sales. It's likely more people have just gone digital. Also in the case of CoD, it will be hard for CoD to top what it sold last year.

Re: Video Game Sales Decline Continues
This November was very small in comparison to past years.
Plus, the industry is flat for console sales. It is typically like this the year or two before the next gen. The video game industry is cyclical. Same thing happened in 89-90, 94-95, 99-2000, 05-06, 12-13. Edit: Looking at the NPD Top 10, only Halo 4 and COD were November games. Everything else was either October or earlier (just Madden). |

Being down 11% just means instead of a 4 billion dollar month, it was just 3.5 billion. Don't just blindly take it at face value.

Re: Video Game Sales Decline Continues
And rightly so. Once you hit 18, you start to realise Video Games are actually a waste of time.

Re: Video Game Sales Decline Continues
Good, maybe I can actually get in to current consoles once the new ones are out and they stop supporting the older ones.
