Re: GTA V News Update (12/11/12)
This is the only game I'll be getting next year apart from The Last of Us. And maybe Watchdogs. But this is the one game I want more than anything else.

Re: GTA V News Update (12/11/12)
Are you guys who are creaming all over this actually enjoyed GTA 4? I don't really get the love for the GTA series, I find the series lacking. I played all of 'em, 3, VC, SA and 4, hell, I even played 1 and 2 a decade ago. Thing is, while the first GTAs where all fun and colorful and cartoony, I always found the gameplay lacking, clunky controls, awkward hit detection, so on, so on, and while GTA 4 improved on all of these areas, it became less fun and it turned into a.. real life simulator sort of game. Plus, the repetition killed it. What could GTA 5 do differently to be a better game than its predecessors?

To be fair - I'm talking about your last sentence - you seem to be one of very few, if any, to feel that - with the information we already have about GTA V - that it needs to do something drastically different to improve.

Re: GTA V News Update (12/11/12)
One single mechanic has never defined GTA. It's the fact that there is variety, and while some of the mechanics (driving, shooting, walking) aren't perfect, they've never been game-breaking. What Rockstar does exceptionally well is create a world that is realized, filled with entertaining characters and gripping story arcs.
3, VC, SA & IV were all top-notch in their own right.
What makes V so appealing is that:
1. It's Rockstar
2. It's GTA
3. They're overhauling the gameplay mechanics
4. More focus on humour.
5. Three playable characters with intertwining storylines
6. It's fucking Rockstar/GTA

I didn't enjoy GTA 4 all that much but the III-era ones (including LCS and VCS)... I love the shit out of them!
What makes GTA so great for me is the fact that I can never get tired of it and the world is so open and just out there for you to explore. Plus I never get bored of playing through the storyline missions every once in a while. I must have finished San Andreas at least 30 times by now. And what exactly do you feel is "lacking" about the gameplay? For me, it's all about the things you can do over and over and even the stuff I don't like, they are not big enough to bother me.
GTA V will take place in Los Santos so that pretty much guarantees my enjoyment.

Love the comparison images between GTA 5 and San Andreas.

Agreed, especially the last line. A great setting is a big factor for me imo. And that's one thing I felt GTA 4 lacked, the locations were boring, everywhere looked the same. Los Santos was awesome in GTA San Andreas and I can't wait to play through it in GTA 5 with it being much larger and having much better graphics.
