Video game industry sales in the United States, including game discs, consoles and accessories, were down 24% in September when compared with the same period last year. Many experts believe these decreases in profits, the rise of casual and social gaming and waning consumer interest are affecting makers of the three big living-room consoles: Microsoft's Xbox 360, Sony's PlayStation 3 and Nintendo's Wii.

The current gen is starting to come to an end, when the next gen comes out there will be a huge boom and console gaming definitely won't be dying.

I suspect the decline could also be attributed to jail breaking/ modding consoles and piracy.

Console gaming is not dying. Like bully said it's easier to play illegally/free now than it was before and like someone else said the current generation has been out for a long time and interest is kind of dying in that. When the next gen comes out there will be a huge increase in sales.

Its also not dying because the console generation has gone on longer than expected. Once the new consoles come out we'll be fine

bought the most amount of console games this month than i have for i'd say maybe a year.

i don't like all the new ideas that are floating about like no discs (which sadly will happen, sooner rather than later) i love having a collection of games on my shelf, i like buying the games and having the real discs, it's not the same when you just have a big list on your screen, saves space yes, but just feels wrong (pc gamers, don't go mad)

i love console gaming, hope the new ones don't change too much.

I'm the opposite. I'm all for new ideas,I hate seeing the same old shit. Games especially when dealing with more powerful technology, need to evolve. Otherwise what's the point of spending all that money on a new console? Just for better graphics? Fuck it.
