Fair enough. I really don't have a problem with the guy. He thought I was talking to him, and I wasn't
I still think the article is shit for the reasons I gave. End of the 7th generation, and the guy writing the article is a scrub for not acknowledging that. Console gaming is fine, and I do not think PC gaming is the future. Steam is cool, but a gaming PC makes even the 3DO launch price look semi attractive. That alienates enough gamers to help keep consoles ahead of PC gaming. That and that the two platforms certainly attract certain games that the other system does not. PC Gaming rules the roost for RTS games, while sports and fighting games prevail on consoles.
I think the PS4 and Xbox "720" will be the first consoles to begin the while "merge" process of consoles and PC gaming. I wouldn't be surprised to see keyboard/mouse options in the upcoming consoles. It's due IMO.

All these "experts" with their bullshit on the market being weak or dying. So funny.
Oh and, know would you know it - Piracy exists on consoles as well. SHOCKING.
So yeah, nothing to discuss here. Consoles are not dying. A new generation is coming, and things will improve soon.

I hardheadedly disagree that consoles reached their limits a few years ago. You can still see huge differences from games 3 years ago till today.Compare Uncharted 1 to 2 then 2 to 3. Huge graphical differences. Halo 3 to ODST to Reach then to Halo 4. Kept getting better graphically. As did Gears 1 to 2 to 3. We will see how much of a difference GTA 4 is to GTA 5. I think this is a good last year,now I think its been tapped out. I'm ok with the generation lasting as long as it has because the devs are just reaching full capabilities
Honestly, if the console generation didn't last this long we wouldn't see the real capabilities it has and we have yet to see games like Watch Dogs,The Last of Us,GTA 5 etc I'm willing to bet,graphically it will be even better. Even a new generation wont be that great until about 2 years in then it will go forward from there |

I will always be a console guy, despite building for a gaming PC. I do not care for tablets, idevices, mobile gaming (save for dedicated gaming handhelds), and the like. I do not care for digital distribution (even though, one day, I will probably have to submit to it). I will always be a "dedicated gaming" guy - whether it be console, handheld, or PC. I don't see it changing anytime soon, unless gaming really changes. The day gaming becomes what I don't want it to become, I'm out. That's it. End of. So, until consoles become DRM machines or until the genres I enjoy die out on console, I'll be a console gamer.
