Re: Games with a good ending in the 7th Generation

They have a good one when it's focused on the ancestors and not the stupid futuristic conspiracy bullshit.

I must be the only person who doesn't think the Red Dead ending was anything special. John gets killed by Ross, Jack kills Ross, the end. It fit with Ross's motive of hunting down all the former gang members but it just didn't do anything for me, it felt like it didn't have any closure. The second you shoot Ross the game's over, I mean, really...

On top of that, you had barely any emotional attachment to Jack since they only brought him in at the end. I probably would've cared a lot more if they had just done something where Ross and John shoot each other at the same time, at least that way I'd have killed him with somebody I cared about. Then they could do some kind of aftermath with the family to wrap it up.

What everyone really wants for Christmas:

Yeah i liked Creed's storyline inside the animus, but outside, fuck

As for Red Dead, just seeing John gunned down after a few peaceful missions is what makes it so big. You cant outrun the past, and dinosaurs like John cant go on forever. Completely surrounded, you go down the way you lived, gunslinging. No matter how many you kill, you lost

Jack's part was just the icing

Well, thankfully, the brunt of the game is the past, that's why I play them.

I don't know, I just wasn't feeling the end, it didn't feel like it had any closure. He dies and Jack finds Ross immediately and kills him, and then they show nothing else. It felt incomplete, that's the best word I can use to describe it. They didn't show how the family adjusted to him being dead, they didn't show him in court going "THAT SON OF A BITCH KILLED MY DADDY, YOU DAMN RIGHT I DID IT!", any kind of thing to close the story. I didn't feel like the story closed, it just....ended. Abruptly. And it didn't help that they spend almost NO time on Jack the whole game. Knowing that the ending was him killing Ross, they SHOULD have had cutscenes throughout the whole game showing what the family was doing, trapped in that government occupied complex or wherever they were being held prisoner, so that the audience would build an emotional investment to Jack. It didn't feel like John's SON shot Ross, it just felt like some random guy did it.

Do I hate the ending? No, I hate Mass Effect 3's ending, I can live with this, but I think it fell a bit flat.

Meh, I liked Borderlands 2's ending. I see nothing wrong with it.

Has to be Arkham City for me. So well done and was so shocking that it shocks me even a year later when I think about it.

Arkham City had me on the edge of my seat. It's an amazing game with an excellent ending. Swerves all around!
