"Veteran video game designer Cliff "Cliffy B" Bleszinski has left his position as design director at Epic Games, according to the company.

Bleszinski, who is best known for his contributions to Epic's Gears of War and Unreal Tournament franchises, was a 20-year veteran of the company. He's departing the North Carolina-based game studio to "chart the next stage of his career," according to a release from Epic Games."

He WAS Epic Games. The company was basically "Cliffy B and Friends"

Seems like he just wants a break, and do do something else, but still slightly surprising. Be like Miyamoto leaving Nintendo...well almost.

It won't be the end of Epic Games. One man does not destroy a company by leaving. They will miss him, but they won't go under. They still have the name brand to go off of. Still a surprising move, but I wish him well and hope he enjoys his time off while rolling around in his $15 million dollars.

Gears of War campaign is my favorite of all time.

I love both Gears of War and Unreal Tournament, not to mention Bulletstorm. I hope Cliffy's departure doesn't have an adverse impact on Epic. I also wish him well.

Doesnt really bother me, he seems to have been making the same game over and over again. Gears of war was worse with each new game
