This is like apple coming out with newer versions of an iPod or iPhone. I got a 250 GB PS3 not to long ago and now they have an even slimmer one with dbl the space for the same price

A PS3 Slim Slim? Is there seriously ANY reason for them to release this?

The top-loading disc mechanism is a strange design choices and the corrugated surface is pretty ugly. Other than that, I've got nothing. It's cool that there's more memory, I guess.

The Slim was already pretty perfect in my view.

Re: New PS3 Models Confirmed Along With Prices For Territories

Right now I'm happy with my 160GB Slim model. Maybe when the PS4 gets released and these PS3's begin to drop even more in price. I'll pick one up for the bigger memory space. But until then I'm content with what I have. And have no plans on running out to my local game store to pick up the newest slims.

This is for people who don't already have a Playstation 3. I personally like it but already have a slim so there's no point in me getting it. That being said, a 6 year old console really shouldn't be over $220 at the very most.

Doubtful, I think when the PS3 first came out they said it was supposed to be good for 10 years. That would make it 2016 before a new system us put out.

And don't forget Sony said the PS3 wasn't mainly a game machine, it's a home entertainment console that does everything including playing games. So I don't think Sony cares much what the Xbox does in terms of competition. Unless Sony has changed it's mind about what the PS3 is since it came out in 2006.
