Just so people know, this will be receiving a Steam release soon and this is only half the game. Its everything up to the Lambda Core.

It stops when you arrive at Xen. About 95% of the original HL.

They're going to release Xen as an expansion. Kinda like the HL2 episodes.

Maybe, if the Steam release is free as well. For me original visuals are part of the experience. I prefer HL: Source with physics and other minor enhancements.

The saddest thing about BMS is that it still feels fairly progressive. 14 years on, and no FPS has topped HL in terms of pacing.
