Youre assuming and expecting each gun to be different in aesthetics and style and type, they arent really. its just stat based. I come make a pistol that fires 10 bullets, once a second that do one damage each and then add a number to each stat to upgrade it, thats now hundreds of different guns just because of the numerical differences in stats.
Also anyone complaining about a game being over hyped simply means they assumed something was good or bad without playing it.
Dead Island a perfect example, great CGI video trailer that had not a second of gameplay in it made everyone assume a very average game that copied several other games was going to be amazing and it wasnt.
