Re: FIFA 13 and Ultimate Team Discussion
I'm reporting back. After playing about 4 games with each team, here's my opinion:
Team 1 (inc. IF Howedes, IF De Guzman)
Heitinga is just awful. I didn't really want to use him when building the team but I needed him for chemistry reasons. Good god he is bad. Always out of position and not very strong. I'll probably shuffle the team slightly so I can get rid of him.
IF De Guzman is average at best. His natural postion is CDM, but his defending stats are atrocious for that position and he's pretty small, so he really doesn't help out there at all. His long shots are solid enough, though I've yet to actually score one with him. I think he'd perform better in the CAM position.
IF Howedes is a strange one. He often seemed to be playing at LB rather than LCB, which left a big hole between him and Hummels. His tackling is very solid, but he doesn't seem as quick as his card suggests. I'll play a few more games with him before I make a complete judgement. He might perform better in a 4 at the back.
That team in general is just average. Nothing special and felt very clogged in midfield - but that's probably more down to the formation. A pacier option up top might have helped stretch the play better.
Team 2 (Inc. MOTM Mikel, IF Skrtel, IF Holtby)
Now this team is a lot better. Much more fun to play with and so much better at creating chances.
MOTM Mikel is awesome. Like really great. Perfect workrates for a CDM (Low/High), and he just sits in and tackles everything. He stopped so many attacks. He's strong, feels pretty quick and his passing is good enough as well. Totally worth trying out.
Because Mikel is so solid, De Rossi really shone for me in this team. He joined attacks and in the 4 games I played, he ended up scoring 4 goals, including 2 in the last one. His passing is great, feels like high 80s and he's probably one of the best all round midfielders in the game. I'd say this could turn into my favourite CDM pairing I've used this game.
IF Skrtel is also fantastic. That whole right hand side is a wall. Again perfect workrates, and he is superb. Quick enough, but he doesn't need pace because he's always in position to make a tackle or push an opponent off the ball. Excellent in the air also. Hugely recommended.
And to top it all off, IF Holtby is great as well. The first word I think of with him is 'agile'. He's excellent at creating space in tight windows. Often the CF in a 4231 can get snuffed out by agrressive CDMs/CBs, but Holtby weaves his way around them. His passing is excellent too - he picked out players around him with ease. Solid shooting also.
I'd basically recommend that whole second team I posted. Really fun to play with and some great players to use. Mata, Reus and Gotze are excellent too but I'm sure most people have tried them.
Sorry for the length, it was fun to write about. Any recommendations for the first team? Who should replace Heitinga? etc.
