Default For anybody looking foreward to PES 2013...

They'll probably be an influx of "LOLPES !!" posts but in this case its deserved. We all know PES's track record in recent years has been very lacklustre but this year based on two enjoyable demo's it looked like they'd made improvements to the core issues of gameplay. But in typical Konami fashion they've taken two steps back and managed to fuck up their pride and joy the master league by turning it into a J-RPG involving magical boots.

Take a look at this preview:

INTRODUCTION

Initially, Master League looks the same as last year. Choosing real life players or fake players is now a simple option, as Konami have removed the PES Shop. More on this element at a later date. After you choose the look and nationality of your persona, you enter the press conference where you are presented to the media.

Sat at your desk, you are introduced to your secretary, and she talks you through everything in ML, similar to last year. You are briefly introduced to the new boots acquisition and shop within ML, but nothing in-depth.

The start of change

As you enter your first match, you’ll realize all your players are wearing plain black boots. Not only that, the opposition players are also wearing plain boots. After the match, I was awarded a pair of Nike boots.

In ML, you unlock boots to assign to players, and this will give them a stat boost. The boots you acquire though can only be assigned to one player. I unlocked around 4 boots in my first season. They have different abilities, so by unlocking the Adidas F50 it will give the player I assign it to a boost in pace.

It’s important to remember that the opposition are going through the same process. I played Barcelona in the CL, and players like Messi and Iniesta were wearing fake boots. Not one of the opposition player was wearing a boot they would in real life, but they had on different boots with different abilities.

Micro-boosting

In ML you have a new menu called Items, which consists of ‘Shop, Item List and Equipment’. The shop has access to 18 different stat boosting abilities, from strength training with dumbbells, to a cycling machine that helps stamina. These items cost points, which you gain from playing the game in general. So, Konami have removed PES Shop of old, and implemented it into ML.

What’s key to remember is that each element purchased can only be assigned to one player. Also, some elements last for a set amount of time, like a season.

Each player in ML now has an Item menu, which allows 3 slots, plus a boot slot. So you can give them 3 different stat boosts, and then boots to compliment that.

As an example, you could give a player like Andy Carroll stat boosts in dribbling and pace, and Adidas F50 boots.

Here's a screen as an example, showing Abbiati with dribbling cones on one item slot, attacking stat boost on another, and Nike Tiempo boots: Please note, I purchased Götze in the first transfer window

Overall

To sum up, ML has become a mode that looks to move away from a traditional approach over the years, and incorporates a less authentic approach but heavy game elements in a bid to keep you playing for longer.

Really ?, Really ??. I think im finally done with this series. They'll never top PES 5 or 6 it seems.

The West (as in you US/UK douches) really dislike PES.

FIFA was my choice back in it's FIFA 2002 and FIFA 2003 period, and then I discovered PES...

PES 3 - PES 6... Best games ever.

Then came PES 2008... Which I still sorta liked, and I played a lot. I skipped 2009, didn't really like it initially.
Played 2010 for a rather long while, since a friend had it...

And then, LOL.NOPE for PES. Tried 2011, was like "wth is this?" and haven't even seen it since?

Why?
Fifa.
Fifa started to change for the better with FIFA 2009, and the evolution reached it's "climax" with FIFA 11 - as we FINALLY got the new, good version for PC.
FIFA 12 was the final step - finally, the PC and console version were the equalized... Well, besides the PC version being superior, by default.

FIFA 13 looks like more of the same, so fuck yeah!

PES... I was actually thinking of trying it again.
But wth is this? "J-RPG"? It does sorta look like that.

I've always been a fifa guy, but the past 2 PES Demos on xbox live have changed my mind on PES, and the fact that Fifa fucked up ultimate team so bad makes me hesitate on buying it.

played the demo, it was absolutely attrocious. the ratings are horrible. 99 for ? some utterly bemusing choices as well for others i can't remember. was laughably bad and should just be put out of their misery

We're acting like Ronaldo isn't a 99 in Fifa as well? He may be rated a 92, but he sure as fuck plays like a 99. Seriously, he's impossible to tackle, strong, can jump over any defender for a header, 5* skillzZzZZzZ, just the best player in the game by far. Blows Messi out of the water

Edit: saying that, obviously will be picking up fifa. Even if Ultimate team is shit, fuck it. The one EA Sports franchise I've always cared for

That sounds fucking horrible. Seems like they've just accepted defeat and are taking the game into a completely different direction to attract a niche market. Fake boots? Fuck sake.

Regarding FIFA 13, i'll definitively be picking it up, the career mode looks stellar with the changes they've made.
