This is pretty much true. Sega failed with the Sega Saturn and had to release the Dreamcast earlier than the competitor's next gen consoles to get a head start. After the PS2 release, Sega tried to compete with Sony, but failed big time.

Pretty much the same thing would happen again if they made a new console. I'd like to see Apple make another console, despite the Apple Bandai Pippin being a failure.

Actually Sega believed people would buy their console because it was comnig out first. They assumed people would jump on it because it was good but people saw the PS2 and waited. They didn't think people would wait for almost a year to get the PS2 but they did and Sega got destroyed unfortunately

Ok so a lot of people won't have been around when Sega was around so don't actually know what happened to them or why they are not around anymore.
