I can only speak for myself here, but it definitely reminds me of FFXII. The battling, the setting, even videos I saw beforehand gave me a FFXII vibe. For a game made by developers which I hadn't even played a game of there was a definite sense of familiarity at the title screen.

It is however its own game. If we're talking scope, then to me it feels like what modern FFs should be like. As Sephiroth said the game is big but it doesn't feel drawn out and they somehow keep me wanting to know more. They don't force any of the sidequests down your neck either, you can do them if you like, leave them if you can't be bothered. The rewards are great though, I've never managed to get 500,000 coins in an RPG just from SQs.

So yeah, buy the game .

Review, but many people played it, sounds like. I may grab it eventually, but those last gen graphics are slightly irritating. Side note - Even more BS is that the Wii U is apparently LESS powerful than a 360 or a PS3. Seriously Nintendo? You can't even match a 360 much less a PS3? Full generation behind. The Wii U might be the first system release I refuse to buy by a prominent company since the.....Atari Jaguar?

Do you own a Wii? If yes, why complain? It's being heralded as the best JRPG of this generation and the graphics is only a slight complaint that is overshadowed by the millions of things it does right.

Graphics aren't a problem at all. In fact thanks to the great design/artwork places like Guar Plain and Satorl Marsh look fucking awesome to me. Character animations are a bit iffy but meh.

Seriously, I may well get this game though. Gamecube controller a better option over the Wiimote? (Can you even use a Gamecube controller?) I certainly do want a JRPG for this summer, as long as the story is solid, I expect to be done with Radiant Historia DS by then (which if you haven't played it - should check it out)

What ever you do don't use a classic controller, trust me. You can't use a GC controller either. The wiimote is fine though, it's not as if there's any motion controls.

Am I the only one who actually finds the wiimote comfortable as long as you aren't waving it about like a mad man?
