Brand New Beyond Good And Evil 2 Details/Art Work Surfaces

Quote:
The general rule of thumb in gaming is that gameplay trumps all. And rightfully so. Who would want to play something if it isn't fun? Then again, games like Heavy Rain are certainly a marked exception to the rule, with unpolished gameplay completely overshadowed by a powerful emphasis on character development, story, ambience, and mood.

Just such an issue was brought up at the trade show Montpellier In Game 2011, which was held only a few days ago. There, Jordan Mechner, best known as the creator of Prince of Persia, and Michel Ancel, one of the driving forces behind the Rayman series, discussed the much-awaited Beyond Good & Evil 2 during a panel. This news comes by way of the French site Beyond Good & Evil Myth, which noted that one of the major themes of Mechner's and Ancel's discussion was whether narrative was more important than gameplay. Our translation of the site comes from IGN's very own French Canadian Naomi Kyle.

According to Beyond Good & Evil Myth, the two men revealed that India is a major inspiration in Beyond Good & Evil 2. The team flew there to get inspiration, taking pictures and melding what they found with the more futuristic look and feel the original Beyond Good & Evil is known for. The concept art the men showed-off represented "a mixture of tradition, the future, and everyday life," according to the French posting. "To create a complete and believable world," it continued, "the team devised a complex universe, everything from its fashion (futuristic yet simple, with touches of technology) to its advertisements."

Furthermore, a video was shown emphasizing a "focus on the 'feel' of the player." The idea, according to Beyond Good & Evil Myth, was to "create a believable world in which players can immerse themselves," with the hope that doing so "will create a link between the players and the universe itself."

Unfortunately, there weren't any further details on Beyond Good & Evil 2's development. So now, all we know is that Beyond Good & Evil 2 will be on the next generation consoles, that it's still very much in development, and that the leaked video from 2009 still comprises most of what we've seen.

But while you wait for more details, definitely check out Beyond Good & Evil Myth for some video and all of the concept art your heart desires.

Shit i still need to beat the first game, but fuck looking for 30 pearls. Anyways this game is finally getting underway it looks like. I'm guessing it wont come out until the next generation of consoles.

Ubi should release this on PSN or XBLA, I don't see it doing well with a retail release.
