Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Discussion Thread

They need to work on some patches for this game pronto. Kinda wish I got it for PC now.

Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Discussion Thread

I really enjoy the game, but GOTY this isn't. It's too broken on a technical level. Also, the "radiant" story system just regurgitates fetch quests and meaningless assassination/burglary quests for me. Limitless income, but too repetitive. My house in Hjerim doesn't even allow me to place weapons in the display cases or on the racks, despite me buying an armory. Only the mannequins work. Also, beware if you finish any of the Civil War/Main quests before doing any Thieves Guild/Dark Brotherhood stuff, because your targets' houses may have been destroyed during the Seige or they may be dead via a Dragon. Learned this the hard way and couldn't finish a few quests.

Never played any of the previous games in the series but I heard that the character customization is better in Oblivion but Skyrim has more side quest.

Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Discussion Thread

Yeah, the Main Quest/Civil War quest lines will be the last thing I do after doing every single Miscellaneous, Daedric, Side, Temple, Favors and Faction Quests.

As for comparisons to Oblivion, there a shit load more things to do in Skyrim then there ever was in Oblivion. The graphics are obviously much better. The horse riding is better in Oblivion. In Skyrim, you HAVE to ride in third person and the horses trot really weird and slow. I also miss the Attribute system from Oblivion but in exchange, we got an awesome Perk system for Skyrim.

Haven't experienced any bad glitches yet, thankfully. I'm constantly aware (being a big F3 and FO NV player) that they can, and will happen at any time and ruin certain things.

Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Discussion Thread

Not sure if many of you know about this, but I'm sure most that have put in a lot of hours into the game have probably found it already. It basically gives you infinite experience for all your skills, so you can pretty much get them all to level 100.

What you need to do is get the Daedric artifact called Oghma Infinium. Basically what this book grants you is three paths; Might, Shadow and Magic. Now you only get one path to choose and it improves the selected skills in those paths by 5. However, if you use a bookshelf, and do all this in the menus, read it and select your path then store it. Take it back out, read again, select path and store again. You can do this until you have all skills to level 100.

I'm sure this will get patched soon, but if it's not I'm definitely getting it as quickly as possible on my second playthrough and getting the skills to level 100.

Doesn't that ruin the game for you?

Heh, yeah, it would if I hadn't already put in 100+ hours into it. I started to use it when I was in the high 40s(character level). Only got my Pickpocketing and lock-picking to level 100. Nothing else. I already had my Sneak and Speech to 100. So it hasn't ruined it at all for me. Now I can't use the book since it's disappeared from the bookshelf.

I can still get dicked by more powerful enemies, especially Frost dragons now that I have zero resistance against them.

Fair enough, I would just get really bored of the game if I leveled all the way up right at the start.

Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Discussion Thread

Oh, yeah, me too. I think you can only get that book once you're past a certain level anyway, 15 I think. But it is much more fun to level your skills over a course of a game, which is what I have done. But on my second playthrough, I'm just going to muck around with things.
