Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Discussion Thread
Been doing some stuff in Riftin.
Spent ages trying to do the quest that gets your foot in the door with the guy from the Thieves' Guild only to realise I was doing it wrong. You're supposed to unlock the little sliding door behind the guy's stall and steal a ring, but I kept unlocking the case that's on top of his stall and trying to steal a ring from that. Everybody kept seeing me do it and I was about to rage. Thankfully did it properly before I gave up and flung the controller at the TV.
Did that trick WWF posted a few pages back and got my speech skill up to about 50. The bump in prices when it comes to selling stuff isn't THAT huge, but it adds up. I've gotten to the point where I feel like I'm doing okay with money and can buy frivolous things I wouldn't have before, because I know I'll be able to make it up pretty sharpish.
Did the quest where you have to steal a horse called Frost for that whatshisname guy. Managed to persuade the guy in jail to tell me where his stash was hidden, too (although I probably would've found it, anyway). When I took the horse to the new owner I decided to kill him, take his money and keep the horse for myself. That got me a bounty in Riftin that I couldn't talk my way out of (would've just paid the 40 piece fine if I wasn't carrying a few stolen swords and an elvin bow that I boosted from the Companions, because I'd rather keep all that shit), so I just loaded it up again and took the money so as to avoid the hassle. Then the guy bounces and just leaves the horse there. So I get 750 gold pieces and steal the horse since it's sitting there, anyway. That was the first time I had bothered with the horses in the game, and I'm pretty sure I'm gonna stick to just stealing them unseen rather than buying them or murdering some motherfucker and taking theirs. Because they are idiots. I like the idea of your horse going to bat for you when things get hairy, but this retard picked a fight with a dragon and got hurled like a ragdoll. And it got dead. I see no point in paying 1000 gold pieces for a suicidal animal.
There is just so fucking much to do in this game that it's nuts. I have, like, a million quests on the go right now and that's through 3 cities. I've said that I'll never finish the game, and trust me, I won't...but I'm wondering if I'll ever even finish the main storyline.
