Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Discussion Thread
I'm level 71 right now.. I may have hit 72 before I went to bed last night though... not sure.
I made some pick pocket gear *of course I did lol* so now when i try to pick pocket someone I get a 90 percent chance of success on most items. Plus I learned if you pick pocket guards only when you get caught you only have to pay like a 12 gold fine if you're part of the guild... so it's all good. That's how I have my pick pocket up... lock picking, I know no tricks for other than picking every single lock you find. The others have little tricks.
Like destruction... if you have Shadowmere you can keep hitting her with firebolt *or any other destruction magic* to level up. Make sure you have the mage stone activated and you are well rested to level up 30 percent faster.
Blocking is really easy as well. Use the Warrior Stone and Well Rested and get a shield... a very good one like a dragon shield or whatever and go find a Giant by himself. Allow that Giant to hit you with your shield up and you'll level VERY quickly. Have your shield in one hand and a healing spell in the other and you can do that all day long.
The same is true with Light Armor or Heavy Armor... depending on what armor you're wearing. You let the Giant hit you without your shield up and it levels up your armor. That's more risky though so be careful

Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Discussion Thread
I got my blocking at 100 my last playthrough when I was fighting that guy to let me into sovangrad. All I did was block over and over and over lol. Got speech to 100 using the glitch at Riften. Got my destruction up by using the trick at the torture chamber.

Use the same strategy to get your light (or heavy if that's what you are equipped with) armor up just don't use a shield. Keep a healing spell in hand though.

Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Discussion Thread
I dont use a shield often. Not when I got my greatsword Ice. each playthrough I focus on specific tree. I messed up so much in my first playthrough. I put some perks into everything, one of them in conjuration and some in ogher shit. I could never use my thrall spells cuz no magic and stuff. Now its all heavy armor, 2 handed, conjuration and enchanting and my 2nd character was all alteratikn, illusion, and one hand

Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Discussion Thread
Oh yeah, my character's name is Katniss this playthrough but I did have a bow named Katniss in my first playthrough with my Arya Start character
I only build my two-hand up through training. I don't train in anything i can easily take advantage of. A good way to build up alteration is to get the Detect Life spell and constantly cast it in a populated town like Riften or Whiterun. I don't use alteration very much and have no perk points in the tree but ti helps me level up my character to put perk points into things I use.

Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Discussion Thread
Detect life helped me a ton with my illusion and alteration master characters. I was super sneaky with my nightingale armor. Would cast detect life to know where everyone was then kill everyone quietly. I only like spending money on trainers when I can sell them stuff and make money back. I just feel like im wasting money especially when it gets up yo 2000 gold.
Btw I fucking love my new phone. I can just say what I want typed and poof its all there.

Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Discussion Thread
I am struggling leveling my illusion right now I am kinda unsure if i want to keep leveling it. LC about a week ago you said you loved having Speechcraft but now you regret your points in it. Is it just because money is no longer an issue for you, or have you changed your mind about the perk tree?

A good way to level Illusion is to find a guard that is stationary and keep on casting Courage on him. It levels up pretty quickly. Also make sure you have the mage stone active and well rested to make it level up a total of 30 percent faster.
Also once you get the invisibility spell you'll level up illusion by just casting that to make yourself invisible. I use that spell more than any other spell at all. I actually have that spell hot keyed on my 360... that and Close Wounds.
I enjoyed the Speech tree when I was doing it because I had alot of free perk points to spend but now i regret it and I can use those perk points elsewhere. If I were doing it all over I would skip that tree entirely... maybe. For instance if I was going to make the character I have now, a stealth invisible assassin I wouldn't need as much in the archery tree so I might still spend points in Speechcraft because it helps you out tremendously early in the game with saving gold.
There are items that you can find or enchant that will help get better prices as well, maybe that's the way to go instead of spending perk points for it.

Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Discussion Thread
Thanks for the Shadowmere trick. I've just completed the Dark Brotherhood quests about a month ago. I'm at level 59 with the main quests completed, but i'm still looking to max out to 100.
Great game, though I always seem to get sidetracked from continuing to build up my Nord.

Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Discussion Thread
Be careful with Shadowmere because she CAN die. The best way to do it is to put it on the easiest level setting and then get her power down and then use Healing Hands to heal her. You'll level both your destruction and restoration at the same time. But again make sure you don't kill her because I've never seen her respawn.
