Not stupid at all... that's basically what I am right now. I decided to do the sneak dagger assassin and didn't want to start a new game so I started doing that after already been super deadly with a bow. Now I do the sneak dagger assassin with some magic and now I also do the shield in one hand and sword in the other with no sneaking at all. It's great.

WeAreTheFallen, I LOVE that about Shadowmere! If you have no help and a dragon swoops in Shadowmere will fight the dragon keeping it off of you. He'll also do that against bandits or any other hostile opponent. I love that horse!

The only thing i'd warn against is putting points into both One Handed and Two Handed unless you plan to make a pure melee character. Better to pick a weapon style and go with it.

Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Discussion Thread

That's great advice McQueen. I don't have a single point in two-handed. That's one of the skills I have left over that I can use to build skill points with lol I think I'm at level 69 right now... maybe 70 and 81 is as high as you can go I hear.

Actually I have no points in blocking or either armor type either.

Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Discussion Thread

If your going a jack of all trades char make sure once your a higher level just start training. It cuts down on a lot of unnecessary time. I found a easy way to get money that will help a jack of all trades build. Save all your gems that you find, then I craft jewelry to level my blacksmithing. After I make a lot of jewelry I will enchant it all then sell it to vendors (make sure you do it piece by piece) This process will level BS, ENC, and speech. Plus you will get a ton of gold.

That helped me alot early in the game when gold is a big issue. Also try to collect as many petty soul gems as possible to enchant rings and necklaces and whatnot that you want to sell as this levels up your enchanting quickly.

Exactly, I have made so much money doing exactly that. However, wow they nerfed blacksmithing exp gains big time. I remember being able to level purely off iron daggers, and while you can still do that it takes a lot longer. The conjured weapon soul trap perk = $$$. LC, do you have any advice for alchemy? I am tired of using restoration as a crutch but I just can't seem to get alchemy to be beneficial to me. I end up making a ton of potions that are really no use.

I was wondering since we were talking about exploration a couple pages back, for the people who have put a lot of hours into the game. Does Skyrim still ever give you goosebumps visually? I was in Riverwood crafting twice yesterday at different times, and even though I have been there 100's of times I all of suddenly got chills, because of the scenery due to the weather/aurora's. It amazes that I can put this much time in, and I still occasionally ooooohhh and awwwwww as if it was brand new.

Not stupid at all, but there are something like 125 perks and only 80 levels (thus 80 perks YOU can get) so I'd plan your perks first before launching in blindly.

Although the max level is 80, it becomes a REAL grind around the 55 mark, so plan your first 55 perks carefully to get the best out of the game for overall

I started out with my usual Elder Scrolls technique (sneak, magic) but after a while it became very clear that Archery was the way to go, with good Destruction magic for close-quarters combat.
