You might be a bit on the vunerable side w/no armor Armor King, and Magic skills use a lot of magic which may leave you with no defense at times

That is one of my concerns. I know there has to be wards that can protect me from attacks. Is it necessary to have a staff and if so where can a get a decent one early in the game. Also are there any good followers that can take the heat off of me when I'm attacking?

No staffs are cool n all (some of them at least) but I tend to just shred into enemies with my magic and yes there are plenty of followers who can take a beating for you

Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Discussion Thread

All depends on what magic you will be focusing on. My first play through I was a master in destruction magic. You will need some magic that can kill enemies for sure. Illusion is awesome if you wanna make ur enemies calm or fight eachother or just run away. Alteration is cool if you wanna paralyze ur enemies. You should probably focus on getting conjuration to 100 and filling up the right perks. Summoning Dremora is great because how powerful they are plus they distract enemies for u and if you get the twin souls perk then you can summon 2 each time. I'm sure at that point you would rarely have to fight cuz they could just about kill anything.

I think magic kind of sucks in this game whereas I felt that way about being pure melee in Oblivion. I tried it with a character and only got about 20 hours in and stopped using them. Obviously you could do it but I think it would make things a lot tougher in the long run.

I really liked it, it wasn't as good as in Oblivion though you're right. The thing is you HAVE to get some amazing enchantments to use most of the better spells. That's what I did though and I enjoyed it.

Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Discussion Thread

Yeah other than Conjuration I don't think i've gotten any of my magic skills past 50 (maybe restoration idk), I just don't see the pay off.

Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Discussion Thread

I hardly ever use magic, just find must of them to be ineffective so I never build them up. Just keep to my sneak and bow attacks, plus 15x sneak damage with my dagger!

Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Discussion Thread

Pretty much the only spells I use are healing and Summon spells.
