Na that sounds like he entered Darkroot Garden from the front. If ya hug the left side and run straight across it will hook to the right finally with a single stone knight in front of a ruin tower. You can run past him and up the tower to take on the boss the Moonlight Butterfly.
Only confusing part though is mentioned the Ice monsters, as those are in the Darkroot Basin like Sephiroth said. I don't know of one area that has both the ice monsters and those stone knights together though.
Also if you want, in that forest of stone knights on the right wall is 2 knights guarding an elite knight armor set. If you want it you can run in, snag the armor, run out before they even form up and fight.
Last night I did more exploring as well. Took down the Hydra, 3 ridiculous cats on steroids and then promptly ran right into Sif. Tried him a couple of times but he is to mean for my thief right now. Sephiroth, if you took on Sif yourself did you decide to take his sword or his souls?

Sparing Sif is still a rumor. There is no proof of anyone doing it, just the tale of sparing Sif. People are trying to figure it out tho. You apparently need to be in the Forest Covenant and then after raising through the ranks, you get a mission or something ending with you sparing Sif.

Thoughts on this breaking 1 million sales in America / Europe combined? Be a nice reward for them I must say.
Had a good watch of the extras DVD with the limited edition earlier, I hope this "series" continues.
Still haven't started yet, been without the xbox for a few days now will try get into this without throwing it out the window (I'm on the first floor anyway so it'd be fine)

Re: Dark Souls - October 4th, 2011
I HATE Anor Lando. Only because of the fucking Black Knight archers. I did a suicide run yesterday only so I could make my Lightning Iaito (btw, best thing in the game imo) and now I'm playing through it. I finally killed Lautrec. If you didn't kill him earlier, he hangs out in Firelink Shrine by the firekeeper and then kills her. You find a stone that will let you invade his world. So I do that, beat him, get a small amount of souls, 5 humanity...and the best ring in the whole game. Ring of Favor and Protection. 20% Boost to HP, Stamina, and Equip Load. Fuck yeah. I also have Havel's Ring on so my Equip Load is 111.6 with 28 END.
You can get the ring as soon as you find Lautrec, but if you do it the way I did (invade his world in Anor Lando), you get his awesome armor too after beating the boss in this level. Also, you get an extra firekeeper soul by beating him later so you can upgrade your Estus Flasks. With this upgrade, it'll be Estus Flasks +4.
The only thing that sucks about the Ring is that if you EVER TAKE IT OFF, it breaks. So put it on the right ring slot and never touch it.

Yeh, whats the deal with the Estus Flask? It seems to randomly change its max limit.

Re: Dark Souls - October 4th, 2011
+5 for normal, +10 for kindle. If other people on your server (obviously online only) have kindled the same fire and are visiting it too (not sure about the visiting part), then the number of flasks can go above 10. Most I've had was 12.
Also, if there is a firekeeper nearby, it's automatically kindled. So the first Anor Lando bonfire and Firelink Shrine are kindled already.
What I was talking about was upgrading your flasks so they heal more. You need to fine Firekeeper's Souls for that.

Re: Dark Souls - October 4th, 2011
Ah, thanks for that Sephiroth.
I managed to get the elite armour but died in doing so. Got corner trapped by the Stone knights. I've got a strange feeling I'm not meant to be here yet, but these things give me 300 souls a pop so I'm gonna grind a bit before backtracking to find where I'm meant to go next.

Re: Dark Souls - October 4th, 2011
Save up 20,000 souls (kill the red dragon if you have to) and then buy the crest from the blacksmith before Darkroot. That crest will open up a door next too a bonfire (it's hidden behind the wall so you have to strike it). Then just run around until 3-4 guys are chasing you, run back to the door. There are some stairs and hide in the corner by them next to the cliff. Every enemy will go up the stairs, jump down to get you, then fall to their death (you may need to kick or block them off). Easy 7,000 souls each time.
Go back to the bonfire, rinse, repeat.
