Re: Dark Souls - October 4th, 2011

I swear those giant Knights give you 3,000 souls...

Had a little go on this after work and I thought I was in Demon Ruins, turns out I was actually in Blighttown. Thankfully I've got the Warp ability so just warped to the Daughter of Chaos Bonfire. Then ran to the Fog door which opened and I have to fight a Fire Stray Demon, UGH!... For some reason I really am not good at those fuckers. Took a couple of tries to kill him. Then I have to fight a Demon Centipede, which wasn't as bad as the previous Demon. Ran to the right and found a lot more room to maneuver. Took less turns than the Stray Demon. The way to the Bed of Chaos looked pretty sweet, with all those Headless Demons just waiting there.

It was a pretty simple boss to defeat, but if he gets you it's pretty much over. So I defeated him, now on to the next one...

Re: Dark Souls - October 4th, 2011

The entire demon ruins area is really cool. I loved doing that section. You're rolling right through the game. I'm not sure what else you need to do before the final boss. The Four Kings might be the last step. Of course you could still do the Painted World but it's not necessary.

But know this, once you beat Gwyn you can't continue and finish the rest of the game. You go right into new game +

Re: Dark Souls - October 4th, 2011

Yeah, that's pretty much all you do in that area. ROLL. Get a brilliant ring for defeating that Centipede though. The area does have some of toughest/simplest enemies. However it does help that I have a weapon that does extra damage to demons - Taurus/Capra only.

I think I may actually try and do as much as I can before I finish the game and move on to new game +. How many Souls do I actually need to offer the Lordvessel. Is it Bed of Chaos, Seath, Four Kings and Nito, or is it more?

Re: Dark Souls - October 4th, 2011

Yes, those four. You also need to beat Sif to get to the Four Kings but I'm pretty sure you have done that already.

Also a tip for Nito. Bring a divine weapon. He has some skeletons with him that wont stay dead unless you kill them with a divine weapon. I always go down there with at least a plus 5.

Also make sure you put on the ring you got for killing Sif before jumping into the Abyss. I died there two times before I finally looked it up. lol I never knew you had to beat Sif first and then when I did I didn't read the item description and had no clue I had to put the ring on. lol

Also there is a bonus Boss (Dark Sun Gwyndolyn) in Anor Londo to beat but it's optional.

Re: Dark Souls - October 4th, 2011

Ah, cool. Well that's one of those fuckers down. And yeah, Sif died ages ago. Wish you could take him with you as your pet guardian...

Yeah, I've read the description to the Abyss Ring, just wish I knew when to put it on, don't want to die like an idiot for the 100th time. Before I quit the game I went into that painting you told me about. So I'll be playing through that area next.

Re: Dark Souls - October 4th, 2011

You put that ring on after you enter the fog in New Londo. You'll go through some Dark Wraiths and then find the fog. Go through it and there is a winding staircase that goes down for a while. Put the ring on there and just jump off the staircase. That takes you to the Abyss and the Four Kings. You can't take the ring off until you leave that area as well.

BTW you have released the water in New Londo haven't you? If not, you have to do that first. And you have to use Transient Curses to fight the ghosts there. They aren't a problem unless they get you in numbers.

Re: Dark Souls - October 4th, 2011

Haven't released the water yet, hardly explored that part of the game, so that'll be the first thing I do once I get down there. I think I've got half a dozen of those Transient Curse objects so hopefully that'll be enough for the trip.

Re: Dark Souls - October 4th, 2011

that's plenty. Once you do it one time all you really need is 1...2 tops. Plus the ghosts can drop more curses for you. work your way to the left and up... once you go across this bridge like thing you'll see some steps going down. In that house you have to fight alot of ghosts and if you die that would be where it would happen but with your weapon I doubt you will. But anyway, there is like a fire place with a ladder. Take that up to the top and talk to the merchant. He'll give you the key that opens the door to the lever where you release the water. Once the water is down take the elevator down. there you will meet the dark wraiths. You shouldn't have a problem with them as long as you aggro them one at a time. You might not even have problem with more than one but I do since I have no armor and no poise lol

btw you don't need a transient curse to fight those guys. Only the ghosts.

Re: Dark Souls - October 4th, 2011

Yes I did, Seph. I waited until I was ready to beat the game though. I absolutely LOVE the lore around all of Anor Londo. Especially him and why he is the way he is. Fascinating stuff.

How was New Londo farming different before the patch? I think you missed my last question to you.

Also I finished Zieg's storyline last night. It brought a tear to my eye. Did you follow that one out, Seph?
