If you go to the blacksmith by the church where you rang the first bell, you can buy a key from him for 20,000 souls. Do whatever you can to do this. Killing the giant dragon helps (10,000 souls) and there is a cheap trick to beating him. In the area before the boar, there is a tower you can go up that has a black knight at the top. Lure the knight down and kill him. He won't respawn. Go to the very top and snipe the back of the dragon with 1 arrow. He should fly away and about 30 sec. to a minute later you'll get 10,000 souls.

Once you buy the key, use it to open a door in the forest. You can get to it after passing the blacksmith and fighting a mini boss that shoots lighting and has no arms. When you come up to the door, you can open a secret bonfire by hitting the destroyed wall to your left. Here's the strategy:

finally beat the capra demon. went 2Hand with my Black Knight Sword and finished it wih about 4 swings. what made it so difficult was that i couldnt block, i watched a vid and saw that you can actually block its attacks. guess my Knight Shield sucks.

You can block most of his stuff. You can't, however, block that two handed smash he does. But now you have the keys to the depths and can get the large ember to make your gear better.

Don't forget to unlock the shortcut by the old hag vendor.

Also be cautious of the frog like enemies in the depths they can curse you.

so i just saw those frog like creature. killed them with one hit and assumed theyd he easy. next thing im cursed and i went trom full health to death. it got even worse,having only half life sucks but then i got poisoned so i had to constantly use Flasks. anf i lost 15000 souls which isnt a big deal since i can farm for them anyway.

I'm so confused why everyone is actually taking Capra on head to head. You're supposed to run up the stairs on the left, kill the dogs easily from there (Capra can;t touch you). Then Capra will try to get you from below, drop down attack takes away 1/3 of his health. Immediately run up the stairs and try again. If he follows you up the stairs, he physically can't reach you and all you need to do is either wait until he slips down or you can jump down and lure him back to below the ledge.

That's what I did after maybe like the 10th time he killed me. It was hard at first because Capra is always in Berserker mode so I would sometimes die before getting to the stairs or the dogs would block my path. The Black Night Sword is very powerful but kinda slow so killing the dogs would always leave me open.
I think I even heard someone do it the stair way and just throw Fire Bombs at it.

Freaking Giant Rat killed me with one hit. How do cure a curse.

You have to go to the man that you found after ringing the first bell. He sells the proper item for breaking curses.

Well that would be the quickest way to go. You might wanna look up prices though as they vary from merchant to merchant.

Okay just looked it up for ya, Soup. The item is called a Purging Stone. The old hag lady sells them for 6 thousand souls and the robed man at the gargoyle bell sells them for 3 thousand souls. You can also trade a Cracked Red Eye Orb with Snuggly back at the asylum and get two Purging Stones.
