Re: Dark Souls - October 4th, 2011

It's also handy to practice on the 5 Black Knights on your way to facing Gwyn.

When I went back to do the NG+ 2 and 3 Gwyn I couldn't believe how bad I had got at Parrying. That's when I just decided to use Solaire for the battle. Was a piece of piss...

It's Gwyn's fast overhand that's hard to parry. If you're having a problem with that, block that move and parry the backhand that comes after it. Buffing your weapon and using Power Within really helps. Also make sure you're wearing the hornet ring.

Re: Dark Souls - October 4th, 2011

After minute upon minute of upgrading a few shields in the game, I got a black knight knight shield in the kiln and that made Gwyn a lot easier b/c I was actually able to keep some stamina after a hit. I basically just kept my distance until he tried the grab move and then went in. His jump attack was easy to dodge. Also had Mask of the Child and Ring of Favour and Protection. I only tried parrying him as a joke when my friend was over and got totally mutilated. I successfully parried one thing in the entire game - black knight right before Gwyn, and after that I kept trying but couldn't get it. Hell, I didn't even learn back-stabbing until 20 hours into the game and I'd beaten Demon's Souls before it (where I pulled off like two accidental back-stabs).

Re: Dark Souls - October 4th, 2011

One of the funest thing to do for me was to parry each of the black knights in the Kiln on the road to Gwyn,so satisfying to see them go down in a single hit xD

Re: Dark Souls - October 4th, 2011

Started NG+. 2 hours, 20 minutes in and I'd already beaten Ornstein and Smough. Went from Firelink to Undead Burg, through Darkroot to the Parish/Gargoyles. The channeler and his goons fucked me up more than once. Had a bit of trouble with the gargoyles, too. Then took the New Londo/Valley of the Drakes way to Blighttown. I did not much of that place, but still fuck it. Died IDK how many times trying to get to Quelaag and then leave after killing Quelaag (who was pretty easy). I accidentally clicked ''no'' when the chaos servant egg guy asked whatever it is he asked, so I killed him to get past to the bonfire. Unfortunately those goddamn worm things followed me so I couldn't activate until they were done. Got to the Sen's Fortress bonfire on first try which shocked the hell out of me given my history with that place. a pendulum hit me off but I just landed on the bridge underneath it, twice. Golem threw me off and I didn't see my bloodstain of 50,000 souls. Anor Londo WRECKED me with those goddamn ninjas and sentinels and FUCK YOU BLACK KNIGHT ARCHERS. One time during the ninja-thin-rail-rooftop-part I fell near a statue of Gwynevere and two Black Knights where I jumped off because there was nowhere else to go. I honesty don't think it would have been possible to keep the souls I lost without homeward boning, either. Then at the goddamn FUCK YOU BLACK KNIGHT ARCHERS place I finally after IDK how many tries got the right archer to all off before the left one actually snipes me for once. Pulled off the spiral staircase jump skip that brings you right near Ornstein and Smough. It's a ridiculously easy jump. Some dude invaded and I had this embarrassing performance against them where I tried to recklessly swing while they were swinging and didn;t get a single hit in. Took down O&S after around three tries. Boss fight is still spectacular. Did Sif + placing lordvessel/tiny other things as well which probably took around twelve minutes altogether after O&S, meaning I'd probably be around 2 1/2 hours in Actually going through the game quicker than I'd thought. Fuck...much quicker then I'd thought. I think first thing I'll do next is Demon Ruins/Lost Izalith or the Catacombs.

Also got two firekeeper souls. One from New Londo and the one from the Parish...? So a firekeeper soul respawns after NG+? I'm guessing you still can't go past Estus +7, though. I'm at I think +4 but haven't used my other (or if I have I'm at +5).

Killing Lautrec by ''kicking'' him twice to push him off of the cliff is the best thing in the game, btw.

Re: Dark Souls - October 4th, 2011

Best way Lautrec ever died on my game was killing himself. He was just sitting next to the Firekeeper like he usually does, I attacked him, he jumps back ready to fight and slips off the ledge.

n00b!!!

Yeah, that's usually the most satisfying to do, and was probably going to be the way that time, but he just decided to do it himself.

Re: Dark Souls - October 4th, 2011

I really should have taken on the side quest with him (started it on the main character from my old xbox account), but I just wanted to see what would happen if I simply gave him a shove. Got a nifty ring out of the deal.
