Drake Sword is great. You'll want to kill the Black Knight sooner or later. Killing the Red Dragon nets you 10,000 souls and the easiest way is on top of that spiral staircase.

Re: Dark Souls - October 4th, 2011

Killed the Black Knight. How do you kill the dragon from the staircase? I was planning on raining a million arrows down on it, but I can't see it from up there.

The Drake Sword is fucking unbelievable. Just totally unfuckwithable. Beat the Bell Gargoyles in, like, 10 seconds. Seriously. I mean, in fairness, I had help from that Solaire dude or w/e his name is, but still, it literally took me/us about 10 seconds to kill them both. I tried hacking off the first one's tail for the weapon it drops, but I wound up killing it before I could get it, unfortunately. That's the only thing that bugged me. After that I went and fucked up Havel and got that awesome ring, and shortly after that I beat the Capra Demon. All with relatively little trouble. No way in Hell I would've been able to do that without the Drake Sword. I know I'm going to reach a point of diminishing returns on the damage output against stronger enemies, but for now I'm enjoying not getting my ass handed to me every other minute.

I'm at level 25 right now. I'm about to go down to the Depths. What level should I roughly be at at that point? I'll probably farm some souls for a while and pump a few more points into vitality and/or endurance.

I'm in Blighttown, killed the black knights, Havel and the Hydra and I'm only 37 or something. From what I gather weapon upgrading is much more important than levelling. What stats have you been levelling? Genuine skill improvement is important too. I went a big wander yesterday in the forest and by the time I had stopped I felt much better equipped to face the boss which had just smashed my face in, and I hadn't even really levelled.

In saying that though I did just discover that all throughout Demon's Souls and Dark Souls I've been backstabbing wrong... pretty embarrassing yeah but I had always wondered why it never seemed to be effective for me. Killed Havel pretty easily after that.

I've mostly been levelling vitality, endurance and strength. Also got dexterity up to 16 so I could use the Drake Sword one handed.

Re: Dark Souls - October 4th, 2011

Anybody know what the next best sword after the Drake sword is? I know I'll probably need to upgrade but I don't want to start upgrading anything until I know it's the right weapon.

Re: Dark Souls - October 4th, 2011

Alright, so I'm in the depths and as I'm walking through some tunnels in the sewers I fall down a shaft and get ambushed by a bunch of shithead things that spew some grey mist. And now I'm cursed. What's the best course of action here? The giant rat is pretty close and I doubt trying to tackle it with half of my health in the shitter from word one is a serious option.

The merchant in the sewers next to the Firelink Shrine (the shortcut you find outside the depths) or a guy that sits in the tower where you killed the gargoyle boss are the two I know of who can help you. You will need souls though.

Edit: If you're going to the woman who sells moss then stock up on Blooming Purple Moss or whatever... I learned this the hard way.

Re: Dark Souls - October 4th, 2011

You can cheese the giant rat with arrows if you take the shortcut where the butcher was. Giant rat is pretty easy tho.

I'll have more tips once I get home from work in 5 hours.

Re: Dark Souls - October 4th, 2011

wut do, SL48 I believe, just killed Ceasless Discharge. Do I go kill Sif now? Also I'm getting tired of using this Titanite Catch Pole, but it has a long range attack and does a lot of damage. Been dumping points into Strength, I'm at like 32 STR now, 20 Vitality, 20ish Endurance.
