It's not a game that blows your mind from the first mission like a Mass Effect or one you immediately feel the sheer scope of like Skyrim. It's the subtle things, atmosphere, lore, (or lack of, as there is a lot of speculation) finally defeating that boss that's been killing you for days. Defeating the gargoyles after hours of pain and standing on the rooftops looking out at Lordran as the sun breaks the clouds with an undying sense of relief and satisfaction. So many moments like this that aren't created by pretty graphics or and awesome soundtrack or even that much of a script.
Not everybody gets it, which is why there's only a few posters such as LC and SoupBro who keep this thread alive. They GET the little things that make Dark Souls (and Demon's Souls) so great.
