I believe I was around SL 60+ and had a completely upgraded Lightning Iaito and still had to have the NPC distract Ornstein for me so I could take him down.

It's definitely a tough fight. Good luck. Oh btw, after the fight...."Amazing Chest" ahead.
Well that is definitely the way to do it with the help of Solaire. Unfortunately I only had one human stone to try and ended up with a failure. Solaire died just as fat boy died leaving me to one on one Ornstein.

Heck if you had a tough time with them at 60+ with a full iaito you can imagine the pain in the ass this is doing it at 50 with only my Lightning Spear +3. Looks like I am going to be stuck silver knight farming for quite awhile not to mention I need a way to get some humanity stones. Tough doing that offline since can't go phantom and help others to gain them. My lightning spear barely even dents Ornstein cause of his lightning def. I think I am lucky if I am doing 50dmg per strike.

Warrior is a great starting class since it has a good strength, but Knights have high HP. If you want to do magic, go Pyromancer since you can build them up the best since thry start at level 1 and come with stats that will let you use magic.

Class doesn't matter. You can build any class up to whatever you want. Pick who you think looks badass. Some do come with better equipment or a gift like master key.

You can farm humanity by killing rats in the sewer. There's a few shortcuts where you can skip the frogs in the sewers.

I seriously did not want to have to make the run back to farm humanity and or try to farm titanite chunks to boost my lightning spear since that was the only way to increase my dmg output since the lightning spear takes no bonus from str/dex.

After farming silver knights forever now I boosted myself 22 levels to become lvl 72 and HOLY HELL!! I just beat them myself without Solaire's help and captured Ornstein's soul. After you told me about the armor option by beating him last I was pretty dead set on doing that route. I learned how to eliminate fatboy fairly simple without to much concern of Ornstein.

Then I reduced my pack load to as minimal as possible so I could move around fast since I am still only running 9 endurance. And after learning Ornstein's attack patterns and figuring out my black knight sword could do over double the damage of my spear to him I was able to make short work of him.

Also just picked up Lautrec's full armor set, even though its nothing to special.

Re: Dark Souls - October 4th, 2011

Are the hitboxes better this time round? I've had no problem whatsoever with dying in Demon's Souls but it's one thing that's starting to piss me right off. You can literally see the sword NOT HITTING MY SHIELD by about a foot yet I still get stamina/health taken off. This is mainly when invading trying to get my body back so I can't complain too much but still...

That and the fact people only seem to know how to use like two builds. I'm putting that more towards the fact the game has less people playing it now though.

Edit: Should probably add by 'no problem' I mean I've died about 800 times and not really been angry at the game.

Re: Dark Souls - October 4th, 2011

Wait does this game seriously expect me to topple the giant cunt with the club right off the bat with a peice of shit broken sword? without giving me a proper tutorial first.

Crock of shit.

Re: Dark Souls - October 4th, 2011

McQueen, you're not supposed to fight him. Run away through a door on the left side when you enter. Then the tutorial starts. You'll fight him again after it is over. He's much easier with your new equipment and weapon. Also, you get to do a falling strike on him that takes away 1/3 of his health.

Or if you're still having trouble. Restart, choose the firebombs as your starting gift. It takes 4-5 of them to kill him.

Re: Dark Souls - October 4th, 2011

Eh I missed the other door. Just thought it was kinda bullshitty if they really made you fight that fucker right off the bat with shit equipment. Game bing a challege is one thing, game being cheap as fuck I won't tolerate.

Re: Dark Souls - October 4th, 2011

The game gives you all the tools to succeed. You will die by your own mistakes.

One big tip, learn to pull enemies out one by one. Fighting them 1v1 is a lot easier than being surrounded. That's something you'll rely on a lot early in the game and learn how to do in Undead Burg.
