Re: General Gaming Discussion

I also failed to kill Virgil at the end of DMC, unfortunately, my save got corrupted, thus deleting all my progress and I don't have the time or the will to replay the whole thing until the end just to kill off the final boss. Shame, though, as I enjoyed the game a LOT. Badass soundtrack + badass fighting + awesome angels and demons shit = epic game.

Bummer, thought the game is solid and that is a boost to replay it.

I found it funny that I had a harder time killing Lilith than Mundus

I feel the exact opposite. I found the third to have more RPG elements than the second. They just seemed to strip so much stuff away from the first when they made the second, by still keeping with the story and everything but getting rid of a lot of things that I liked about 1. 3 improved on things in terms of leveling, customization, etc.. I actually felt strong again whilst playing as a Vanguard, just found them too weak in the second installment.

Still, I've finished both 2 and 3 and haven't really bothered to complete them again. 1 will always be my favourite in the series, I've finished that game so many times.

Re: General Gaming Discussion

In celebration of The Bearded Geralt Rises (Witcher 3), both previous games are 50% off on GOG and Steam .

Go go go.

My Witcher 2 run will continue today after a short hiatus. Stuck at a boss as per usual.

Re: General Gaming Discussion

Just finished Monkey Island 2: Le Chuck's Revenge, and I can honestly say I didn't see that ending coming. I've had it on arcade for sometime but never got that far, was still hunting for the map pieces but decided to play again. Glad I picked it back up. Hilarious as ever, just a great series.

Re: General Gaming Discussion

Is Alan Wake more of a psychological thriller/ horror or is it more of a cheap jump scare? I bought it because I read online that its more atmospheric than jump scares, but my friend today told me that its about jump scares. I hate jump scare games, but I'm not sure if he was just messing with me.

Re: General Gaming Discussion

Its very atmospheric, but there are no scares really. The "light" mechanic just adds tension, not scares.

Re: General Gaming Discussion

It doesn't really have any cheap scares like a Dead Space or Resident Evil have. Like Seph says it uses the light/dark mechanics to build atmosphere and tension. One of my favourite moments where this is done well is in the forest when you stray from the path the wind picks up and starts to rustle the bushes, trees and grass, then you start getting chased. Just a brilliant moment. Also in the cabins as well, there tension is well done.

The DLC is usually more psychological as it's more to do with Alan's mind and how the dark presence is fucking with him. They are just as good as the main game. But hey, I fucking loved everything about it. The setting, characters, the story and narration.
