Re: General Gaming Discussion

One of the games I want to play, Shogun 2, is at least 20GB. I bought Shogun 2 and Shogun 2: Fall of the Samurai on disk, however, so I just have to install 'em. It's going to be harder getting these PC games physically, though, since Gamestops are starting to phase 'em out and I'm only seeing 'em digitally on Amazon and stores like that. I know I will be using GOG.com and Steam, but mainly for indie and old PC games. I just do not have the patience to download these games on the connection I have.

Hey guys, my Diablo 3 account just got locked due to illegal transactions and I've never played Diablo 3 before in my life, what the fuck?

Shogun 2 looks fucking awesome, wanted to give it a shot, but it looks difficult and I don't really play strategy games, plus, one of my friends played the Total War games and he said that after a while they become extremely hard.

Now that it's been resolved, just how future proof is this PC build? Is it alright for a first time PC build?
Looks good to me. As far as future proofing goes, as long as this console generation lasts, you're laughing (my PC was built over 2 years ago, and it still runs pretty much everything perfectly at high quality, unless it's an optimisation issue). It's hard to tell what specs the next generation will have, but I'd be surprised if they did anything other than play catch-up, considering how far ahead PC tech is by now. So, yeah, you're pretty much fine.

I've seen recommendations on SSDs as opposed to HDDs. On my research, I found that they're much expensive and probably the only one I can afford (without going overboard) is a 120GB SSD, which is very low. Do you think pairing up a smaller HDD with a 120GB SSD would suffice? I'm really trying not to go overboard, but I really want my first build to last.

Re: General Gaming Discussion

Probably just go with a 500GB HDD and save some money for a bigger SSD.

Future proofing is good, but where does it end? It's probably better to build something that will suit your needs now instead of in 5 years time. Upgrading doesnt have to be a complete overhaul of your system. Just doing things bit by bit is probably better.

If you're already overbudget, an SSD is an unnecessary luxury. You can always upgrade later if you feel you absolutely need that speed.

In other news, the good doctors Muzyka and Zeschuck have left Bioware. Is this the official "Bioware's best days are behind them" moment?
