Re: General Gaming Discussion

So wait, you're saying instead of paying the extra $80 now, you'd rather spend $250+ next year? Just send it back and order the newer one.

Also, how much is a Blu Ray player instead of a DVD player?

Re: General Gaming Discussion

I don't need a Blu-Ray player. I'm just using this PC to play games, pure and simple. It won't be a multimedia machine.

As for the GPU, I was thinking about the 660 TI, but I just thought it was unnecessary for now, especially because I'll primarily be playing games that are more than a year old (Shogun 2 and Skyrim, for example), games that are ten years old (Baldur's Gate and Planescape Torment), and Indie games, which do not require powerful PCs. I already sent the RMA, I don't think I'll be able to switch it out.

Re: General Gaming Discussion

Lost a friend to Runescape. Went over to his house one day and just minded my own business in his room as he chopped away mindlessly at some trees in the game. There was little to no communication for a good half hour, before I just walked out. He didn't even go after me.

He was doing such dead-end, menial tasks though. Do this, chop that, harvest this, trade that, wait a little bit for this, repeat, for likely hours on end. It's one of those games like E.V.E that is essentially a test to see if you would ever work a second job. It keeps more people interested than others for the illusion that it will upgrade their e-penises. At least something like WoW provided a sense of adventure and exploration. Here, it's a top-down fetch quest bore that should really be one of Facebook's games.

Re: General Gaming Discussion

I don't get the appeal of games like Runescape and WOW. Tried them both and legit gave them a chance and they were both boring as fuck. I don't understand how people lose their lives to WOW.

Lore, communicating with others, various fictional bragging rights, memes/humour, among other things.

Word. Still many of my amigos play WoW, they probably have invested hundreds or even thousands of hours in that game. I watched them play a few times, but it looks rather boring, but MMORPGs aren't my thing after all.

You can look at it that way I guess, but I took it as I was doing mundane shit all the time, doing the same fetch quest over and over and over again and using a combat system that is so slow and disjointed that I couldn't stand it.

But to each their own, I guess.
