Re: General Gaming Discussion

And I the only one completely disappointed by the Star Wars The Old Republic beta?

Opening cutscenes got me so pumped to play and then, when I did start playing it was sooooooooooo underwhelming.

Re: General Gaming Discussion

My brother just bought all Assassin's Creed's.
I wanna play all 3 before I play Revelations.
Would I be able to wikipedia the storyline of the first and go straight to the second? Because apparently the first is very weak.

Due to never owning the first that's exactly what I did and it worked out fine, 2nd one is a great game to start at.

Re: General Gaming Discussion

The first Creed was a good starting point but honestly is quite samey and boring.

Starting at the brilliant second is no problem to the story, you may miss a bit about subject 16 but just wiki that, no need to play the first one.

Speaking of Creed, everyone knows a new game is coming next year with a new character and story arc, do people want a new part of the world? set years later or continue straight off the bat of Revelations?

Re: General Gaming Discussion

The second Assassins Creed certainly got me more interested in the future story line and that Piece of Eden object. Even though I still dislike Desmond. But that was more than could be said about the first since I was really looking forward to a game set solely in the Crusades. I've got over that now and enjoy all the aspects of the story to the game.

The combat got stronger and more refined over the first and was less boring and repetitive, which was a good thing. However, i still need to finish the second one and get started on Brotherhood.

Re: General Gaming Discussion

The first AC is dog shit, skip it and just go onto the awesomeness that is AC 2. Brotherhood was amazing as well, although I haven't gotten around to Revelations yet.

Re: General Gaming Discussion

I bought the first AC back in 2008 and well it's the reason why I never btohered to buy any after that.

The gameplay is so damn repetitive and boring. You run about, you slash guys using the game two buttons, you run about some more, you jump on a horse, run about some more, climb a building, jump in a haysack, overhear a conversation, kill a dude. Wash, rinse repeat.

Another thing is I don't know if it was my copy but I never got to finish it because after doing viewing the area, they never showed me where to go on the map. So I just traded it in.

So that issue coupled with the shitty gameplay and a storyline that I could really careless about due the whole switching between Miles and Altir (or whatever his name was) just made for a terrible gameplay experience.

Thankfully that happens far less in the second game. You spend most of your time playing as Ezio, which is always better than playing as Desmond.

Re: General Gaming Discussion

Just saw the review for Uncharted 3 on X-Play and boy am i confused. Now I haven't played UC3 yet so I can't give an opinion yet but they gave the game a 4 out of 5. The reason being 1) It doesn't bring anything new to the table and 2) It's not as good as the previous game.

Yet somehow Gears of War 3 gets a 5 out of 5 despite bringing nothing new to the table and not being as good as previous installments. Modern Warfare 3 gets a 5 our 5 even though it the same routine point and shoot formula with a billion and one explosions that we've all gotten used to now the past 4 years.

It just doesn't make sense. It's amazing that when it comes to PS3 titles all of a sudden we should minus marks for the game being the same copy and paste formula we've been used to

Now I have no problems with UC3 getting a 4 out of 5 if that's the case. It's perfectly understandable. But if that's the case then Gears and Modern Warfare should have also gotten 4 out of 5.

This is why I stopped following X-Play. For the past 3 or 4 years they've just been handing out 5 out 5 like candy. There was a time when a game getting a 5 was a rare thing, now every game that has hype behind it automatically gets a 5. What the games this gen are just so superior to that of the previous gen?

Re: General Gaming Discussion

Can someone tell me of any places that sell PC games digitally? (Viable to download for UK users)

I really wanted to pick up Anno 1404 as £35 for 2070 seems a bit steep however, it's not on Steam or the Game.co.uks download section

Another quick question while I'm at it is would I be able to link a game through Steam if I bought it somewhere else? Quite like to have the achievements / stat tracks.
