Re: General Gaming Discussion
Gears is a love or hate thing. I happen to love it.
The game is not about complex mechanics and special powers. It's simply grab a gun of your choice, find a horde of enemies and let rip. If you want a game with a solid storyline, a host of interesting game mechanics and a cast of deep, emotional characters, go play an RPG. If you want to kill shit with guns no questions asked and do it in a bad ass way, Gears is pretty much the daddy imo.

Re: General Gaming Discussion
It's not a love or hate game. I don't love and I don't hate it. It's a game I'd play if I have nothing else to play, I find it decent, not bad, not great. The game doesn't do anything particularly good, but it doesn't really have any faults in the gameplay. This may sound silly, but I even enjoyed NFS Hot Pursuit '10 a lot more than Gears of War 1. I guess these cover based 3rd person shooters just aren't my type, that's why I lost interest in ME2 as well (I know it's an RPG, but most of the gameplay is 3rd person shooting).

I agree wholeheartedly with this. Really nothing more I need to add to it.

Well in my experience, that makes you an exception to the rule lol. Everyone I know either loves it or hates it.
So far, I find the 3rd installment to be the best yet. I love the new weapons, I love the polish that's been applied and I love the multiplayer.
One criticism though. EPIC, why the fuck did you exclude Tai from the multiplayer characters. I demand an answer.
EDIT: Kiz, not quite yet. I'll be getting it once my game funds roll in. But I'm looking forward to having improved handling and KERS and DRS.

Re: General Gaming Discussion
yeah my order got dispatched on thursday i think, hoping to have it next week. sounds so much more realistic compared to last year. not just sticking to the track, having to wait for heat in the tyres, etc etc. kers and drs will be so much fun though

Re: General Gaming Discussion
Yeah. I read somewhere that the cars respond better. Less twitchy etc. If it is, it'll make Monaco so much fucking easier to drive tbh.

Re: General Gaming Discussion
ugh monaco was hell. every lap by the ai seemed to be a perfect lap, while goal number one was not hitting the barrier and still trying to get decent speed out of the corners

Tell me about it. If I had a dollar for every time I smacked the wall during sectors 2 and 3 I'd be a very rich man.

KERS is okay, I've used it in the slipstream, I haven't been able to use DRS effectively yet. You spin out in the corners alot more now so the tracks require a bit more practice, I still love monza though using the KERS on the main straight can be handy. Monaco is easier on this game for me but it's still a track that tests your reaction time, the close barriers make timing crucial. The custom steering wheel is a must for me on this game, I haven't tried it yet but it has to be easier to use.
